Gangnam Station bar with private rooms and a cat cake: Jusindang

In short

Jusindang Gangnam is a Chinese-zodiac-themed bar and restaurant in a basement near Exit 11 of Gangnam Station in Seoul. A 3–4 person private room was booked through Catch Table, and the order came to 82,000 won for four zodiac cocktails (rat, rabbit, snake, dog) and a cat-shaped cake. The room at Jusindang Gangnam is narrow and dim but quiet enough for a long chat, and the sweet, creamy rat cocktail and the startling cat cake are what stay with you.

Was looking for somewhere unique near Gangnam Station and found this quiet room bar, Jusindang Gangnam! I'd seen the one near Sindang Station before but apparently there's one in Gangnam too... The concept looked really fun so I decided to check it out.

Finding Jusindang Gangnam: the entrance and the basement interior

Jusindang Gangnam is on the basement level of 9 Gangnam-daero 96-gil. Something feels off from the entrance already... you go down and there it is. Kind of a dragon palace concept, I think.

Once inside there's even a Dragon King (?) figure. I went in the evening, not even that late, but the place was almost fully booked.

How do you book a private room at Jusindang Gangnam on Catch Table?

Jusindang Gangnam lets you reserve a room for about 3-4 people via Catch Table. The room is upstairs, a bit small and dim. Honestly the seats outside probably have better atmosphere, but the room is fine for quiet chatting. Though because you have to go up a staircase to get there, a lot of people mistook it for the restroom, haha.

What is on the menu at Jusindang Gangnam?

Honestly the menu on Naver Map is better than the physical one since it has photos. They seem to run a lunch service too? There's a rice bowl set menu, and beyond that all kinds of side dishes, drinks, desserts, and a surprisingly wide range of anju (drinking snacks). There are actually a lot of proper food items too, so it wouldn't be a bad first stop of the night either.

Zodiac-themed menu at Jusindang Gangnam

Just looking at the menu makes it obvious this place has a strong concept. And there are cocktails for each Chinese zodiac animal! So my group each ordered the cocktail matching our own zodiac sign. We didn't even check what they'd taste like first — total gamble!

Four zodiac cocktails at Jusindang Gangnam, compared

🐍 Snake cocktail, 17,000 won

Jusindang Gangnam's snake cocktail is made with marigold-infused gin, lime, and acacia honey for ₩17,000. It comes with a dry ice performance on the side! That was pretty fun. Out of everything we ordered, this one had the strongest alcohol taste. There was a subtly fragrant tea-like flavor along with the gin, bitter and aromatic, with a gentle sweetness from the honey — really appealing. The portion isn't huge since it's mostly ice, but cocktails like this are meant to be sipped slowly anyway, so it was fine.

🐶 Dog cocktail, 19,000 won

The dog cocktail is a combination of gaebirom-infused bulldog gin, tangerine traditional liquor, grapefruit, and smoked salt.

Dog cocktail with a collar-shaped garnish

The dog cocktail comes with a cute little dog collar hanging off the glass. I loved these little touches on each drink. The grapefruit flavor was strong and the alcohol taste wasn't overpowering. There's salt stuck to the rim too, so drink carefully bit by bit! This one had the biggest portion, I think. Overall you could really taste the tart-bitter grapefruit, the sweetness, and the alcohol all coming through well.

🐭 Rat cocktail, 17,000 won

The rat cocktail is made with dark rum, cream liqueur, pineapple, and cheese for ₩17,000. And next up, my personal favorite — the rat cocktail! It's soft and sweet like melted vanilla ice cream, basically a dessert drink. I couldn't really taste the pineapple, honestly, but I felt like I could drink it endlessly... the kind of taste that sneaks up on you! There's brown cheese on top too, which added a nutty flavor — personally my favorite. If you're a lightweight like me and love sweet, latte-like drinks, highly recommend.

🐰 Rabbit cocktail, 17,000 won

The rabbit cocktail combines gamhongno, plum, yogurt, and lemon. This one's also on the sweeter side. On top there's a prune sitting there like a rabbit's liver. There's a subtle yogurt flavor too, making the whole thing sweet and easy to drink overall. Since each zodiac drink tastes completely different, it was fun ordering our own signs and comparing them together.

The 12,000 won cat cake: cute, shocking, a little scary

Jusindang Gangnam's cat cake is ₩12,000 and made with black sesame, red bean paste, cream cheese, and apricot jam.

Cat-shaped black sesame cake

We also ordered the cat cake. Wasn't sure how to eat it, so a staff member did the honors. Apparently the jam is supposed to ooze out, but it didn't — maybe it got a bit firm from being refrigerated?

Cat cake plated and cut by staff

Anyway, the staff member cut off the... head... set it aside... and drizzled raspberry jam over it like blood.

Visually shocking and slightly terrifying!! Now you just eat it. The texture was actually more like something between a pudding and a mousse cake rather than an actual cake — a bit bouncy yet soft. The black sesame flavor wasn't too strong but was nutty and sweet, and the red bean inside was soft too, which I liked. It even had a bit of a patbingsu (red bean shaved ice) vibe.

It paired well with the raspberry jam too. The flavor itself isn't super special, but where else would you get a dessert that looks like this... worth ordering once just for the fun of it.

Is Jusindang Gangnam worth a visit? Final verdict

This quiet room bar near Gangnam Station, Jusindang Gangnam! The fun isn't just drinking a good cocktail — it's picking one based on your zodiac sign, plus each one comes with its own little performance, so there's something to watch too. Strong concept, good taste. I tried the rat, rabbit, snake, and dog, and of the four, the sweet, low-alcohol, smooth rat was most my style. If you like a stronger alcohol taste, the snake is fragrant and delicious too. The cat cake is also super unique and fun for the price, so I'd recommend that as well. If you're looking for an unusual bar near Gangnam Station that's off the beaten path, this is worth a visit. And since they have rooms, if you're after a quiet room bar near Gangnam Station, this one's recommended.
