Greek yogurt lunch takeout near Gangnam Station: Lazy Yogurt Gangnam

In short

Lazy Yogurt Gangnam is a Greek yogurt dessert café on Yeoksam-ro near Gangnam Station in Seoul. On a lunchtime visit the writer took away two plain-base cups — a chestnut Double for 8,900 won and a Beheu Double with soy milk for 12,600 won — eating one right away and saving the other for breakfast the next morning. The yogurt at Lazy Yogurt Gangnam is dense enough that one scoop fills you up, yet still light on the stomach.

Why go to Lazy Yogurt Gangnam for chestnut dessert?

As a kid I wasn't really into chestnuts on their own, but the moment chestnut showed up in dessert form, I went wild for it, no holds barred. (That's also why in France I'd buy anything with the word marron on it — my friend traveling with me wasn't into dessert though, so she had a rough time keeping up with me later haha.)

Now that I'm grown, my baby loves chestnuts too, so naturally I've come to love them even more, and I still love chestnut desserts — my head whips around any time I spot a good autumn dessert spot. So off I ran to Lazy Yogurt Gangnam to try their autumn desserts.

Inside Lazy Yogurt Gangnam: seating and space

Inside the Gangnam Lazy Yogurt shop. With only 4 tables and one side-bar style table, when I visited during lunchtime it was already completely full, so a lot of people were placing takeout orders too.

Back in college, whenever I met up with classmates, seniors, juniors, or friends from other schools, we'd inevitably have to eat something, but most restaurants nearby were full-on meal places. My friends didn't drink like me, so at least we didn't have to go to a bar, but with no decent alternative even when we wanted to watch what we ate, we'd just end up eating a regular meal anyway — that's the memory I have.

But waiting for my takeout order at Lazy Yogurt, I saw people eating alone, and also a group of four girlfriends who seemed to be catching up after a while, each with their own yogurt — and I felt a bit envious that you could meet friends and keep up with relationships while still eating well. Haha.

I came running here chanting chestnut chestnut chestnut, but once I actually arrived, there were so many other tempting things, and most people eating in the shop were having plain Greek yogurt — so I also went with plain as my base and ordered a variety of different options on top. (No matter how you look at it, the fresh tang unique to yogurt is best in the plain base... and I really love that yogurt tartness anyway...)

Since it's now September, autumn season, there were plenty of Greek yogurt flavors with a full autumn-dessert feel — rice, chestnut, black sesame, mugwort. The seasonal fruit seems to change by season, and a sign inside the shop said this season's fruit is fig. If you're looking for a good autumn dessert spot in Gangnam, autumn-flavored Greek yogurt isn't a bad option.

Chestnut Double and Beheu Double: taste and portion size

Lazy Yogurt's Greek yogurt itself is dense, so even just one scoop of Greek yogurt turns out to be a pretty filling amount. If you want something more meal-like, going single from the signature line with granola or fruit added would probably be enough on its own.

After finishing the beheu double, I was genuinely quite full. I ate the other double Greek yogurt on the right the next morning for breakfast. The chestnut flavor was pleasantly sweet, and the plain Greek yogurt had that fresh, tangy taste with a nice touch of acidity.

Eating this not just as diet food but as a genuinely healthy meal, the portion was generous enough to be quite filling while still feeling clean on the stomach — that was Gangnam Lazy Yogurt for you. Lazy Yogurt's hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
