Today I'm introducing a bakery I visited almost as if hypnotized — I was out walking Seosullo-gil and spotted a sign that just said 'bread.' Let's get into the review.

Seeing so many delicious-looking breads already displayed outside made me want to rush in and look around.

What's in Munhwa Bakery's display case

Munhwa Bakery is a takeout-only shop, and in its clean, cozy little space the breads sit lined up in a display case. If you like soft, sweet bread, you'll find plenty to reach for.

Onion bagel

The onion bagel adds a subtle onion aroma to a chewy bagel — plain but not boring! Good for a quick bite on its own, and it also pairs nicely with coffee.

🌾 Injeolmi bread (rice cake bread)

Injeolmi (sweet rice cake) bread, generously coated in nutty soybean powder! One bite and your mouth fills with that nutty flavor and chewy texture — plain, but a taste you keep thinking about. ✨

Munhwa Bakery has such a full lineup of breads that if you're having trouble choosing, you can actually taste-test them first.

I ended up buying cheese bread, squid ink milk-cream bread, and walnut bread.

Such a nice touch — they wrap each piece separately so it's easy to eat 💗

How does the squid ink milk-cream bread taste?

Munhwa Bakery's squid ink milk-cream bread has that chewy, soft texture unique to squid ink bread, topped off with sweet condensed milk cream. It looks plain from the outside, but one bite and a gentle sweetness comes through — I kept reaching for more than I expected.

The nutty flavor of the squid ink blends well with the soft, sweet condensed milk, and it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, which I liked. The bread itself is moist and soft, so it would go really well with coffee! Great for those who love sweet bread, but also for anyone who doesn't love overly intense sweetness. 🤎

🧀 Cheese bagel

A chewy bagel with the salty, savory richness of cheese added — filling enough as a snack or even a light meal! The bagel's signature chewy texture stays intact, so it tastes better the more you chew, and the cheese adds a savory depth beyond just plainness.

The cheese's distinct nutty, salty flavor especially seemed like it would pair really well with coffee. If you prefer savory, salty bread over sweet, this one will score high. Even just one is surprisingly filling, so it's great to grab for a busy morning or as a snack when you're hungry. 🥯🧀

🌰 Walnut bread

Walnut bread with nutty walnuts studded throughout, so the more you chew, the more the nutty flavor comes out! The bread itself is soft and fairly plain, which lets the crunchy texture of the walnuts really stand out. I especially loved the subtle walnut nuttiness that rose up with each bite.

It's not too sweet or intense, so it's easy to eat simply in the morning, and it seemed like a perfect match with a hot americano. I'd recommend this one to people who prefer plain, nutty bread over flashy flavors. ☕️🌰
