Songpa basement cake shop first order: BEST No.1 design, Circus Rabbit

I ordered a lettering cake for the first time for a special day! I was searching hard for a good lettering cake spot around Jamsil and Songpa when I found Circus Rabbit. This was my first visit, and the cakes were seriously gorgeous.

Where is Circus Rabbit? Finding it in the Jangmi arcade basement

Circus Rabbit is in the basement of Jamsil's Jangmi Jonghap B Sangga, and it can be a bit tricky to find the first time. I actually wandered into the wrong spot at first, haha, but the security guard downstairs kindly pointed me the right way and I made it there safely. Just head into the B-block side of the building and it's right there!

This is a cake specialty shop, so visiting is basically just for pickup — but the space is decorated so cutely and the owner was really kind, which made it even better.

You can also buy cute decorations and candles here. The heart, bear, and rabbit-shaped candles were adorable.

Bottle cakes are available too. After tasting the cake here, I'm sure the bottle cakes are just as good — I really want to try one now!

Since the cakes are made with milk cream, they need to be refrigerated, and when moving them you have to keep them on a flat surface so they don't collapse and stay pretty.

Can Circus Rabbit make a kid's birthday cake with a custom figure?

While I was there, the owner happened to be making a birthday cake for a little kid, and once it was finished it was so, so cute! I thought the kid receiving it would be thrilled, haha. It seems like they make a lot of children's birthday cakes too, so this place seems perfect for ordering something for a special day.

This one had a Pokémon concept, but it seems like they can do it with pretty much any figure you bring and request. Franchise bakery cakes all have the same predictable designs — custom cakes really do have their own charm...

The packaging was done so beautifully. Since I was going straight home to refrigerate it, I skipped extra cold packaging this time. But if you're traveling a longer distance, I'd recommend bringing an ice pack or buying one at the shop.

Because it's 100% dairy whipped cream with no emulsifiers, preservatives, or chemical additives, it's best to eat it the same day if possible. It keeps refrigerated until the next day.

How the raspberry lunchbox cake and milk cream tasted

Every one of the lunchbox cake designs was so pretty that I spent forever deciding on this one too, haha. In the end I went with BEST No.1! The packaging was lovely as well. Of course, a cake looking pretty matters a lot — but honestly, taste matters just as much, right? And the taste turned out to be way better than I expected.

Honestly, with lunchbox cakes and lettering cakes that look this pretty, you kind of stop expecting much from the taste. But Circus Rabbit wasn't like that. I really didn't expect it to be this delicious. The milk cream especially was so good... it was clearly different from the cream you get at a typical franchise bakery cake — genuinely nutty and tasty. And the fact that it wasn't overly sweet was really the highlight! It was subtly sweet with that distinctive nutty milk cream flavor, and with the raspberry jam layered in, it added a tangy-sweet note on top.

I'm sure the other flavors are all great too, but I highly recommend the raspberry! Honestly I wasn't even planning to eat that much cake... but I think I ended up eating almost all of it, haha. It was genuinely that good. And on top of that, it's just so pretty. I didn't expect much from the taste given how good-looking the lunchbox cake was, but objectively speaking, the taste was excellent too — I was really satisfied.

I bought a lunchbox cake and it wasn't just pretty — the taste was excellent too, which left me really satisfied. 100% dairy whipped cream really does make a difference...
