Morning takeout run for gorgonzola financiers: Low & Sweet Bakery

In short

Low & Sweet Bakery is a bakery café on Haeundae's Haeridan-gil street in Busan. On a weekday morning after daycare drop-off, the writer took out a gorgonzola financier, egg tart, pistachio swirl, and an iced Americano, and the crisp-outside-soft-inside financier was the clear winner. Salt bread wasn't on the display case that day, but the 8am opening made it a great spot for an early café hour.

A weekday September morning on Haeridan-gil

During the summer heat, no matter how much I love café time, dessert, coffee, whatever — I just didn't want to step one foot outside the house. But now that it's September, the weather's suddenly windy, and even though there's still some summer left in the air, it's gotten pretty autumn-ish lately, so after a while I wanted to enjoy some coffee time and headed to Low & Sweet Bakery, a café on Haeundae's Haeridan-gil.

I went right after dropping my kid off at daycare, so I thought it'd be quiet, but the place was packed — I guess everyone had the same idea about enjoying fall, haha.

The salt bread seems to be famous, but I don't know if it was already sold out or just not put out yet since I came so early — anyway, there was none on the display case, so I picked financiers for a change, and the financier was excellent!!

Even though the weather's a little better now, it's still summer enough that I figured I'd get hot again walking home, so I just took the iced Americano to go and kept dabbing my face and neck with the cold cup on the walk back, haha.

The taste of the gorgonzola financier

I've been kind of obsessed with financiers lately, so maybe that's why, but this one tasted especially good that day. It's supposedly a financier with deep blue cheese aroma plus sweet honey and savory salt added — and yes, the honey, salt, and aroma were all good, but more than anything, you could really feel that basic crisp-outside-soft-inside financier texture done right. It was so good that writing about it now is making me want to eat it again — I'm going to go buy another one right after I finish this post.

Iced Americano

The Americano also had a slightly tangy, fragrant, cool taste — a good iced Americano for the tail end of summer.

Opens at 8am — great for an early café hour

Low & Sweet Bakery, a great café in Haeundae. I understand it's been known as a delicious spot since Haeridan-gil first started getting popular, and maybe that's why it was busy with customers even on a weekday, not even a tourist-heavy weekend afternoon. The taste was nutty, buttery, and solid.

Since Low & Sweet opens early in the morning — well, I've unwillingly become an early-bird extreme-morning person because of my baby, but anyway — this place would be great for anyone who wants an early café hour too. Low & Sweet Bakery in Haeundae is open 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (last order 7:30 pm).
