When a special day or anniversary comes around, I often wonder which cake to choose. Sijeunikeu Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch, an up-and-coming cake café near Centum City Station in Busan, specializes in fruit cakes piled high with fresh fruit, delivering on both looks and flavor. I visited and bought the Mango Top Cake Mini, and its soft 100% dairy fresh cream and generous fruit made it perfect for a special-day party.

The combination of fresh fruit and soft dairy fresh cream really stands out, making this a reliably good anniversary-cake choice for a special day.

Where is Sijeunikeu Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch, and what about parking?

It is about a two-minute walk from Exit 12 of Centum City Station, so it is easy to reach by public transit; the department store's underground parking also makes driving convenient.

What cakes and price ranges are available?

Looking over the cake showcase near Centum City Station, I found that they use two carefully selected seasonal fruits and operate on a make-today, sell-today basis.
The signature Mango Top Cake No. 1 is ₩53,000, while the Mango Top Cake Mini, ideal for a small family, is ₩39,000. Other options include Whole Mango Cream Basque for ₩29,000 and Whole Mango Chiffon Fresh Cream for ₩14,000. They use 100% dairy fresh cream and make everything by hand with sponge baked fresh daily without emulsifiers. Colorful number candles and HBD candles were also ready in one corner of the shop, just right for setting an anniversary mood.

Why I chose the Mango Top Cake Mini

For two or three people to enjoy lightly as dessert and finish in one sitting, the Mango Top Cake Mini looked like the right size, so that is what I chose. Seeing it in person, the No. 1 and Mini sizes did not differ enormously, so the Mini alone felt more than enough for an anniversary party for a couple or small family.
The shop says it uses mangoes ripened over a lengthy 170-hour process, which raised my expectations for their sweetness even more. Do note that fresh fruit cakes cannot be exchanged or refunded.
Storage after shopping and tips for transport
Since I needed to do a little more shopping at Shinsegae Centum City before heading out, I told the staff when I would return and asked them to keep the cake in the shop refrigerator. Because it is a fresh fruit cake, I was advised that the maximum storage time is about one hour and that it should be refrigerated as soon as possible.
If your travel time is longer, the shop provides an ice pack, so it can stay cool and fresh while you move to the department store's restaurant floor or elsewhere.
Texture and sweetness of the mango cake I actually tasted

True to its reputation as a recommended Busan cake spot, I opened the box, cut into it, and found sweetness spreading through my mouth.

The mangoes, ripened for 170 hours, were very sweet and tender to bite into. The 100% dairy fresh cream was not rich in a heavy way at all, but clean-tasting, while the sponge baked without emulsifiers was moist rather than dry. It suited both children and adults, and we finished the whole cake right there.
If you are looking for a good spot near Centum City Station or weighing up a Centum City dessert for a special day, this well-known Busan cake shop is worth a stop.
