Suwon hanwoo grill with a free doenjang stew: Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye
In short
Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch is a charcoal-grilled hanwoo (Korean beef) restaurant on Nahyeseok-gil in Ingye-dong, Suwon. In a main hall divided by partition booths, the writer ordered the hanwoo assortment for two, 300g in total (150g per person, 49,000 won), grilling it cut by cut in order — brisket, sirloin, flat iron, chuck flap tail, short rib finger meat and skirt — and received a hanwoo doenjang stew as a standard side plus a basin of patbingsu (shaved ice with red beans) to finish. With private rooms and group seating as well as booths, Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch suits an Ingye-dong date and a company dinner alike.

Lately Honggchil-ne and I have been stuck in a rut of bar-only dates, so I figured it was time to properly recharge with some hanwoo (Korean native beef) instead. Looking for a nice-atmosphere hanwoo restaurant in Suwon, I found Yeongpo Hwa-ro in Ingye-dong.
Feeling a bit guilty toward our family (haha, is that the right word?) and realizing we hadn't dated much lately, I made the effort to go — and Yeongpo Hwa-ro turned out to be a total win. Let me show you this Suwon hanwoo restaurant!

Inside the Nahyeseok-gil restaurant: partition booths and private rooms
Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch sits right on Nahyeseok-gil in Ingye-dong. We arrived at the store.

A palace-worthy chandelier greets you right at the entrance.
The main hall was fully divided into private booths, and the ventilation system was surprisingly excellent — great news for not smelling like smoke afterward.

Every table came with a fancy brass tableware setup, and there were rows of pricey liquor bottles on display too.

There's also a private room to the side — perfect for booking ahead for a company dinner or gathering. I definitely want to bring the whole family here sometime.
There was group seating in the back too, set up as an open-room style.
Even the waiting chairs by the entrance came with newspapers, a nice touch — and the restroom had all the little essentials, kept impeccably clean.
Menu prices: the hanwoo assortment for two at Yeongpo Hwa-ro

Yeongpo Hwa-ro offers a wide range of hanwoo cuts, hanwoo pork dishes, and drinks. They even carry hanwoo pork options like samgyeopsal (pork belly) and mokjal (pork neck) — such a thoughtful touch. Great pick for a Suwon company dinner too.

You can order easily via tablet, and today, to properly taste this Suwon hanwoo spot, we went with the hanwoo assortment for two (300g)!

Side dishes and the hanwoo doenjang stew that comes as standard
Here's the basic table setting. Elegant brass bowls holding roasted salt, fresh wasabi, myeong-i namul (wild garlic leaves), pickled kimchi, and napa cabbage kimchi.

Next came the scallion salad — and it earned a pass right away for having the sharp spicy edge of scallions dialed down just right.

Then came a hanwoo doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) with actual beef in it, served first — seems like it comes free by default even without ordering it separately.
With hanwoo added, the flavor got even richer and deeper. It didn't taste like a throwaway free side at all — genuinely good quality.

What's in the 300g assortment? Six hanwoo cuts over charcoal
Hanwoo assortment for two (300g), 150g per person (₩49,000). It had been a while since I'd admired such a noble presentation of hanwoo — let's take it in first.

Here's today's star, the hanwoo. Multiple cuts showed up: sirloin, flat iron (bupchaesal), skirt (chimasal), brisket (eopjinsal), short rib finger meat (galbisal), and chuck flap tail (salchisal)!

You could really tell it was 100% charcoal, and the gold-colored grill looked pretty grand. Yeongpo Hwa-ro clearly takes their charcoal seriously — confirming its reputation as a Suwon hanwoo spot.

Brisket (upjinsal), grilled to medium-well
Now it's time for our own private omakase — Yeongpo Hwa-ro hanwoo grilling session.
First up, brisket. Even looking back at the photos while writing this post is tough (in a good way) — this is definitely an Ingye-dong hanwoo hotspot.
Doesn't it look like the charcoal yakiniku I used to eat in Japan? Except this is 100% hanwoo.
Ventilation was great and the heat was strong, so even a light touch on the grill cooked things fast — you really have to watch closely (though honestly, it's impossible to look away from this view anyway).
Brisket has a good amount of fat, so the strong heat really locks in that charcoal aroma.

Grilled to a medium-well to suit our taste. The melt-in-your-mouth texture of the juicy brisket was pure fantasy...
Thick-cut brisket with abundant marbling delivered that full, spreading fat flavor — pure hanwoo essence. This is what it means to truly live well, haha.

A piece of soft, tender brisket topped with fresh wasabi is also an absolutely top-tier bite.

Sirloin, seared with a hint of garlic
Next came the sirloin, hanwoo's classic go-to cut.
We flipped it around to sear it evenly and keep the juices in.
Was it just my imagination, or did this sirloin have a faint hint of shrimp flavor mixed in? If it's true, that's pure happiness.
Having picked up a trick or two, our 'chef' Honggchil even infused it with a bit of garlic aroma (and grilled it beautifully, might I add).
Clean, savory, and bursting with juicy meaty flavor, the sirloin didn't disappoint either. The juiciness kept the richness going with every bite.

Flat iron (buchaesal): lean and chewy
Next was the flat iron (bupchaesal). Less marbling, but not tough at all — the pure taste of hanwoo meat itself.
We slowed down and grilled with focus, to really savor each cut.

Our resident 'chef' really has a knack for grilling meat well. The deep, rich flavor of hanwoo melting in your mouth alongside the juices — this place truly earns its hanwoo restaurant status.
The flawless flat iron paired perfectly with the charcoal flavor — top tier. The meaty aroma and richness were nothing short of artistic.

The clean, chewy texture unique to flat iron came through clearly, plus a tenderness on top of it — the mouthfeel was heavenly.

We kept things interesting by mixing up combinations along the way too!
Chuck flap tail and short rib finger meat: grain you can feel
Next up was the chuck flap tail (salchisal). It had a good balance of fat and visible grain, making for an excellent chewing texture.

Grilled gently, one bite brought together the savory charcoal aroma and rich fattiness — top notch.
The thick short rib finger meat (galbisal) went up on the grill without pause too!
Hanwoo galbisal with clear grain. Savory fat and chewy texture were the highlight, with hidden softness right behind that chew.
Being able to enjoy hanwoo galbi in such a hearty, thick cut made it a genuine texture masterpiece.

Skirt (chimasal), the last bite of the grill
And now, the very last cut: skirt steak (chimasal). Sad to see it end... but this isn't the end of the story with Yeongpo Hwa-ro — it's already become Honggchil-ne's top pick, our go-to return spot from the very start.
Picked up another trick, round two. Always our chef's heart trying to make each bite even more delicious.
Cut beautifully and eaten bite after bite, it delivers hanwoo's refined richness, a springy texture, and then that softness right behind it...
Even after finishing the skirt steak, the journey at this hanwoo restaurant Yeongpo Hwa-ro apparently isn't quite over yet...(??)
Dessert at Yeongpo Hwa-ro: a basin of patbingsu

And now, the grand presentation of a full basin of patbingsu (shaved ice with red beans). This dessert cooled down our warmed-up mouths, bodies, and hearts perfectly.
Generously loaded with ingredients, this basin of patbingsu was the perfect way to cleanse the palate at this Suwon hanwoo restaurant.
Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch: better for a date or a company dinner?
Honggchil-ne absolutely loved Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch, this Suwon hanwoo restaurant. The booth-divided main hall is great for a two-person Ingye-dong date, while the rooms (6–22 people) and group seating (12–76 people) are perfect for Ingye-dong company dinners and group gatherings.
Five stars, strongly recommend as a repeat spot.
