Dog-friendly café in Uijeongbu with tent-zone yard seating: Forerest

A drive-course recommendation for Uijeongbu! Here's my review of Forerest, a cozy dog-friendly café that feels like a mountain lodge tucked in a little forest village 🐕

I came out to Uijeongbu for a date with my dog, had dinner, and then stopped by Forerest. I'd seen reviews calling it a must-visit for Basque cheesecake, so I had to check it out!

Forerest at night: parking for 50 cars and first impressions

Forerest is a large café on Nokyang-ro in Uijeongbu, and visiting at night gave it a real mountain-lodge, almost exotic atmosphere. Parking is completely generous! I looked it up on Naver and it said around 50 spots!? The lot is huge, so there's no parking stress, though I bet it gets busy on weekend afternoons.

I parked in the space along the side of the building. Wondering whether to bring her inside, I got out carrying Molly in her pet stroller basket.

Let's head inside and order first! On weekends and holidays, you can use the store for up to 2 hours. Even in the evening there were more guests than I expected — daytime is clearly busy too...!

Can you bring a dog to Forerest? The pet rules

Forerest is a café that welcomes pets! Here's how the rules were posted.

• Vaccinated dogs and cats only
• Leash required, or use a carrier (no wandering around loose!)
• No using human dishware! (obviously...)
• Owners must clean up after their pets (obviously, again)

The entrance is pretty enough to be a photo zone on its own! A wood-and-natural vibe that feels like you're stepping into a forest. Just note that it's a stepping-stone-style path, so it might be tricky if you're bringing a stroller!

Forerest's menu and what we ordered

True to its reputation as one of Uijeongbu's go-to cake spots, Forerest's dessert menu has a variety of Basque cheesecakes, and the drink menu includes coffee, non-coffee options, and several kinds of herbal tea. Since I'm not much of a coffee drinker, this lineup was right up my alley haha.

For drinks I ordered an americano and a mate tea, and for cake, a chocolate Basque cheesecake and a black sesame Basque cheesecake! It's the kind of cake spot where picking just one feels like too much of a shame.

Inside Forerest: the main hall and three room-style spaces

Forerest's interior has a living-room-like main hall, like a house, and

there are three separate room-style spaces like this. The interior uses solid wood tables and chairs, framed art, and plants scattered throughout for a plant-filled coziness — it felt like a snug little vacation cabin.

There are two restrooms total, and while they're unisex, they were kept clean.

How Forerest's chocolate and black sesame Basque cheesecakes taste

After waiting a bit, a Toss Order notification let me know my order was ready, and I picked it up. Two fudgy-looking slices of Basque cheesecake 😋

As you can see in the video, the Basque cheesecake's texture was dense without being overly firm or melty, so each bite gave off that thick, rich cheesecake flavor. The chocolate one wasn't too sweet and had a deep cacao flavor — it felt like eating chocolate mousse, and honestly, if there were a shop like this near my house I'd go all the time! The black sesame one is a total hit for anyone with an older-generation palate. That nutty, sweet black sesame flavor made me think of my parents — it's a flavor older folks would love too!

Forerest's outdoor tent zone and yard seats

Forerest's outdoor space looked full of character too, so I went out to check it out. There's a tent zone that felt private and camp-like, great for sipping tea, and beyond that there are seats scattered around the terrace, yard, and hillside — perfect for spending time outdoors on a clear day like this. There's a chestnut tree too, which should give shade in the daytime. I sat indoors this time worrying about mosquitoes at night, but the outdoor seating is so appealing. The smell of earth was so nice, and the weather was cool too—

Is Forerest in Uijeongbu worth a visit with your dog?

Forerest is a large café in Uijeongbu that's close to Seoul and great for enjoying a comfortable time with your pet.
