Outdoor terrace café near Seoul for a Uijeongbu drive: Forerest

In short

Forerest is a large forest-surrounded café on Nogyang-ro in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. We checked out both the floor-to-ceiling window lounge chairs and the outdoor terrace, and tried an iced Americano, apple ade, and a chocolate Basque cheesecake aged 16 hours in the fridge. A great forest-view café to stop at on a drive near Seoul.

Today's post is about Forerest, a café with a relaxed atmosphere that's great for lingering over coffee and dessert with good conversation. Starting this post on Forerest, a large café in Uijeongbu where you can enjoy a coffee break right in the middle of the forest.

I visited Forerest, a large café in Uijeongbu, while looking for a place to rest for a bit amid the repetitive daily grind — and true to its name, Forerest ('for a rest'), it really suited its purpose as a space for a brief escape.

Floor-to-ceiling windows and forest views inside — what seating is available

Inside, there are various tables and spaces, so it's good for visiting with friends or spending time with a partner, and there's plenty of room for group gatherings too.

The vibe is a bit different from the cafés you'd typically see in the city — once you step inside, green scenery unfolds beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the space is designed for a relaxed stay.

By the windows are comfortable green lounge chairs; sitting there and looking out, you almost feel like you've stepped into a forest.

The interior decor pieces hanging around each space added even more to Forerest's own particular atmosphere.

Forest vibes on the outdoor terrace

I liked that Forerest has plenty of outdoor space as well as indoor seating. On a nice day, you can sit outside and sip coffee while looking at the green scenery, and it feels like a different, relaxed forest mood from indoors — proper healing, honestly.

Sunlight filters through the leaves, making the green look even more vivid — the café doesn't need flashy decor when nature itself sets the mood.

There's decent space between the tables too, so you can sit without feeling cramped, and blended with the green scenery around you, it felt like a brief escape from the city.

With green all around, just sitting there made me feel a lot more at ease. Sitting at the outdoor tables especially, with the trees and plants right up close, I could really feel like I was drinking coffee in the middle of a forest.

What we ordered: iced Americano, apple ade, chocolate Basque

The menu includes the signature Basque cheesecake along with coffee, non-coffee drinks, and tea.

Iced Americano and dessert at Forerest

Forerest uses a blend of specialty beans, after-blending four different beans to balance the flavor, they say. Maybe that's why the Americano paired so well with the sweet cake when I had them together.

A glass of apple ade at Forerest

The apple ade was sweet and refreshing, easy to drink lightly. It has a different feel from the Americano, so ordering both to share between two people sounds like a good idea.

The dense chocolate Basque cheesecake

At Forerest, the Basque cheesecake is house-made and sold after being chilled and aged for 16 hours; the deep sweetness of the chocolate paired well with the dense, soft texture typical of Basque cheesecake.

To sum up

  • A great-atmosphere café with an appealing forest view
  • Spacious, relaxed layout
  • Good for enjoying coffee, drinks, and dessert together
  • Recommended for a date or a weekend café outing
  • The chocolate Basque cheesecake was a satisfying dessert
