I've always loved desserts and bread, and moist, soft castella is one of those national snacks everyone loves regardless of age, right?! With the weekend here and a special kids' snack in mind, I went looking for a proper dessert spot and headed straight to Gurae Station! From the entrance the savory, sweet bread smell was already... seriously overwhelming, and it had me drooling.

The interior of Jinsim Castella's Gurae Main Branch is done in wood tones overall, with an open kitchen. What stood out most was how clean it was! Seeing the neatly maintained cooking tools and store gave me a lot of confidence even before tasting anything haha.

It's a cozy space, but there's proper seating to wait a bit, and the soft lighting made it a nice spot for a photo too.

After the long wait, I brought the order home and opened it up. The moment I opened the box, the heavy weight of it was already a wow.

Now let me review the nicely golden-baked castella I actually tasted, one by one. Today's order was the half whipped cream/half chocolate castella and the mocha whipped cream castella. It's great that you can order to your taste ^^

Slicing through with a knife, I could feel the springy softness right through my fingertips..! One big bite and a savory egg flavor spread through my whole mouth as it melted away — textbook castella. Maybe because it's fluffy pure milk whipped cream, it wasn't heavy at all and was just sweet enough that I kept eating without getting tired of it.

The chocolate whipped cream side was also really good. A cream full of rich deep-chocolate flavor was packed in solid between the layers of bread. It wasn't overly sweet and had a refined taste, so it worked not just as a kids' snack but for adult tastes too. The combo of fluffy castella and sweet chocolate cream was better than I expected haha.

Next up, the mocha bread base my wife likes! The moment I opened the box, a gentle, deep coffee aroma seemed to spread through the whole room.
