Whenever I drive out to Paju, a bread pilgrimage is non-negotiable for a bread lover like me haha. I heard there was a super famous salt bread spot in Paju, so I had to check it out.
What kind of bakery is Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch?
Within Paju, Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is a popular European-style bakery in the Dongtae-dong area. It's a takeout-only shop with no seating area inside.

Even from the outside, the cute European-style interior catches your eye. I was just going to pick up and go, but building parking is available too, which made shopping way more convenient.

I genuinely agonized over the menu — my usual favorite salt bread, plus a whole range of sandwiches, baguettes, and ciabatta. It really feels like you've landed in France; put on some Champs-Élysées music and one bite of bread and you'd swear you were in Paris.

Boulangerie Tan operates on a same-day-baked, same-day-sold principle, using natural levain, organic & French flour, natural butter, and dairy cream, so it's great for kids' snacks too.

Walking into the shop, this really nutty, delicious bread smell wafts around. Even though I'd just had lunch, everything still looked so good — is that even real haha.

Salt bread at 2,900 won and the fig cream cheese baguette
With prices going up everywhere these days, plus using organic & French flour and natural butter, a lot of places charge ₩3,000 or more just for basic salt bread. So seeing ₩2,900 at Boulangerie Tan, I honestly didn't believe the price at first.

Besides that, the fig cream cheese baguette, which suits this season perfectly, looked delicious too.

Brunch set discount from 10am to 2pm
There's a wide variety of salt bread too, and especially if you visit between 10am and 2pm, the brunch set is open, giving you a discount when you buy a sandwich and coffee together — seemed like a great option if you're buying with brunch in mind.

The basic croissant, made with AOP-certified French Lescure butter, looked crisp with defined layers and that crunchy-outside, soft-inside texture — delicious. And the French-style flan, with its rich custard filling and a bouncy, crisp shell, was totally my type.

The plain sliced bread looked soft and fluffy too.

Four signature cornet pies at Boulangerie Tan, vanilla sold out
The menu I was most curious about was the cornet pie lineup — it's basically Boulangerie Tan's signature item, and I could just imagine that crisp texture.

The flavors are Vanilla Cornet Pie / Pistachio Cornet Pie / Hazel Chocolate Cornet Pie / Chodang Corn Cornet Pie — but the Vanilla Cornet Pie was already sold out.

Cornet pie gift wrapping from 5 pieces, plus bread reservations
Especially for the cornet pie, gift wrapping is available starting from 5 pieces, which made me think it'd be great to gift to close friends or family. Boulangerie Tan also lets you reserve bread ahead of time, so booking your favorite menu items in advance seems like a smart move.
It's slow bread, made with a self-cultivated natural levain and low-temperature fermented for over 14 hours, but it keeps you full for a long time without that heavy, bloated feeling after eating. Especially when you're stuck wondering what to give kids as a snack or instead of breakfast these days, instead of just plain white rice with a few sheets of seaweed, filling them up with delicious bread made from organic and French flour — without measuring agents, emulsifiers, preservatives, or dyes — that digests easily seems like a great option too.

Great for kids' snacks, and especially good for brunch or when hosting guests — the cornet pie would be a total hit. That was Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch, a European-style bakery café you can find in Paju.
