On a weekend evening, my wife and I went looking for good restaurants in Gimpo and ended up at Restaurant Polia in Unyang-dong. We went craving pasta and wood-fired pizza — familiar dishes, sure, but cooked in a wood-fired oven they felt totally different. Let me walk you through what we ate and the vibe of the place.

Where is Restaurant Polia in Unyang-dong, and is there parking?
Restaurant Polia sits on the 2nd floor of a building in a quiet residential neighborhood near Bird Ecology Park in Gimpo's Unyang-dong. Parking was easy — there's a lot right in front of the building.
The sun sets so early these days, ugh. It was already dark when we arrived, so the building's lights were on, and the softly lit exterior had a really nice atmosphere.

The 1st floor has a Korean beef specialty restaurant, and Polia is up the stairs. We could park and walk straight in.
Inside Restaurant Polia: good for a date or a meal with parents
Inside, Polia has a wall painted with a map of Italy, stylish lighting, and wood-toned furniture all working together. It's quiet but comfortable — the kind of place that works well for a date but also doesn't feel awkward for a meal with parents.
At the entrance there was a sign advertising discounts on tenderloin and striploin steak. We'd decided on pasta and pizza this time, but seeing the menu made me want to come back for steak too.

The brick-textured walls and wine rack also fit the space well. It had a touch of class without feeling stuffy.
The wood-fired oven in Polia's open kitchen

Inside, the open kitchen holds a large wood-fired oven. There's even a drawing of a chef pulling out pizza near the entrance.

Watching pizza actually being baked in the oven made me even more excited to try it.
What the couple ordered at Polia, and what it cost

We ordered using the tablet on the table. After browsing through the menu, we picked three dishes.

- Steak cream pasta: ₩29,900
- Gorgonzola pizza: ₩22,500
- Ricotta cheese salad: ₩21,900

While we waited, one thing caught my eye — the glass cups. Not a single water spot or smudge, spotless, like they'd just been unboxed. Honestly I love little details like this haha. Seems minor, but it really does put you in a good mood.
Garlic baguette before the meal

While waiting for the food, a warm garlic baguette came out first. Golden brown, slightly crisp on the outside and soft inside. The garlic scent was subtle too — good for a light nibble while waiting for the mains.

Ricotta cheese salad with gonggalbbang (hollow fried bread)

First to arrive was the ricotta cheese salad (₩21,900). Cherry tomatoes, mandarin oranges, and sliced almonds were arranged together, with a generous mound of ricotta cheese in the center.
The cheese was soft, crumbly, and light, so it was refreshing eaten with the vegetables. Alongside the salad came a wood-fired gonggalbbang(?) — a puffed bread that they cut open with scissors at the table. You're meant to stuff the salad and ricotta cheese inside.

There's a fun DIY element to it, and because the bread is baked in the wood-fired oven, it's got a light, chewy texture. It's a different kind of fun compared to just eating a plain salad.
Steak cream pasta topped with salchisal (chuck flap) beef

Next was the steak cream pasta (₩29,900). A generous chunk of salchisal (top blade steak) sat on top of the pasta, making it look hearty. The cream sauce was smooth and savory, and it soaked well into the noodles.

Eating the salchisal together with the pasta added a meaty richness that made the dish really satisfying. You really do need meat haha.
The couple's No. 1 pick: wood-fired gorgonzola pizza with honey

The best dish of the night was the gorgonzola pizza (₩22,500). Baked in the wood-fired oven, the crust was golden brown and loaded with cheese.

Lifting a slice, the cheese stretched into long strings. Gorgonzola pizza is such a familiar dish, but this one was way better than I expected.

The savory, salty punch of the gorgonzola combined with the chewy texture of the wood-fired crust made it feel different from the pizza I'm used to.

A light dip in the honey that came with it added a touch of sweetness. My wife and I both, independently, picked this as our #1 dish haha.
Free coffee you can order mid-meal at Polia

Coffee at Polia is free. While eating, I checked the tablet and found coffee listed — priced at ₩0. Both iced and hot were free. What I liked was that it wasn't limited to after the meal; you could order it in the middle of eating whenever you wanted. We ordered one iced and one hot.

No need to go find another café — we got to drink coffee right along with our meal, and it tasted rich and good too.
Service and group seating at Restaurant Polia

The vibe was so nice I took a bunch of photos haha. The staff's service was also really good — they took care of things quickly and moved around with a lot of tact, so there was nothing to be uncomfortable about during the meal.

The female owner in particular was warm and friendly with customers — personally it felt like the kind of comfort you get from a favorite aunt haha. That's the sort of thing you only really pick up on by visiting in person.
Polia's visit-stamp reward event
While paying, we checked out the visit-stamp event too. Orders over ₩30,000 earn a stamp, and the rewards change depending on the number of visits.
- 3 stamps → soft drink
- 6 stamps → green salad
- 9 stamps → margherita pizza
We collected a stamp too, and the details were sent separately via KakaoTalk, which made it easy to keep track.
Is Restaurant Polia worth it for dinner in Gimpo's Unyang-dong?

We came here to spend a weekend evening together, and beyond the food, what really stood out was how clean the whole place was and how thoughtful the staff's service felt. Even something as small as a spotless glass cup put me in a good mood, and thanks to the owner's warm attitude, we felt at ease even on our first visit.

Next time we'd like to try the steak menu we missed out on this time. If I'm being greedy, I do wish they stayed open a bit later haha. If you're looking for a date spot or a place for a family meal in Gimpo's Unyang-dong, give it a visit~~
