Korean BBQ dinner with a baby near Ogeum Station: Baekhyang Jipbulgui

In short

Baekhyang Jipbulgui is a straw-fire grilled pork restaurant a short walk from Ogeum Station in Songpa, Seoul. The writer ordered the soy sauce pork straw-fire grill for 2-3 people (32,000 won) and steamed egg, then rounded out dinner with the set banchan spread, unlimited lettuce and wrap vegetables from the self-serve bar, and a bowl of namul bibimbap (mixed rice with seasoned greens) while eating with a baby. There is no high chair, but staff helped the stroller inside and the seasoning is not sweet, making Baekhyang Jipbulgui an easy dinner spot for families with young children.

I had somewhere to go near Ogeum Station and was looking for a good Korean restaurant to eat at with my baby, and found a place near Ogeum Station that seemed good for both lunch and dinner! Here's my review of Baekhyang Jipbulgui, where everyone got a clean, well-arranged spread and had a delicious meal!! (Even better because my baby genuinely loved it haha)

Baekhyang Jipbulgui hours and the walk from Ogeum Station

Baekhyang Jipbulgui is located at 16 Jungdae-ro 25-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea, very close to Ogeum Station. Hours are Monday through Saturday 11:30-21:40, with a break time of 15:00-17:30, and it's closed every Sunday. Parking is available in front of the restaurant or at nearby lots.

Exterior and entrance of Baekhyang Jipbulgui

First off, the location is really close to Ogeum Station! It's a good spot to visit even without a car, and we came for a late dinner — there were other people there for a meal like us as well as people having a drink with dinner.

Spacious interior with many tables

Is Baekhyang Jipbulgui stroller-friendly inside?

The inside of Baekhyang Jipbulgui was very spacious and comfortable. There were lots of tables, so it looked good for group gatherings or regular meals, and I saw another table with young kids having a family meal just like us! There was no high chair, but the staff kindly helped us bring the stroller in, which was great haha.

Half-open kitchen where cooking is visible

On the other side there's a half-open kitchen where you can see the cooking happening, which gave a clean impression, and since it's a straw-fire grill specialist, you can sometimes catch a little fire show depending on your order.

Table with a table-order tablet

Ordering is done via table order! Apparently if you write a Naver review they give you squid muchim (spicy seasoned squid) too, so if you want to take part in that, give it a try haha.

Lunch special or dinner platter: what we ordered

At Baekhyang Jipbulgui, lunch comes with a lunch special that's more budget-friendly! Since it's close to the station, it seems like a great spot for office workers near Ogeum Station to grab lunch. We came for dinner, so we ordered by the plate — since we were eating with the baby, we went with the soy sauce pork straw-fire grill for 2-3 people!

Generous full table of side dishes

The banchan spread and unlimited wrap vegetables at the self-serve bar

And look how generous this spread was! This was all just the basic side dishes!! The banchan (side dishes) included garlic, seasoned garlic stems, fresh cabbage kimchi, spicy radish salad, perilla-mushroom stir-fry, pickled gochujang peppers, and chamnamul (wild aster greens), and the lettuce wraps came with lettuce, napa cabbage, and geunde (Swiss chard-like greens) — and all of these could be freely refilled at the self-serve bar!!

While going to refill the lettuce wraps, I noticed they'd also set out sesame oil, gochujang, and seaweed flakes so you could make bibimbap (mixed rice) out of the seasoned greens that came as banchan — what a thoughtful touch! I already thought the basic banchan itself was delicious, but the fact that you can turn it into bibimbap is genuinely genius and so considerate... They even set out bibimbap bowls, so if you want a heartier meal, I'd recommend making the bibimbap too haha.

Soy sauce pork straw-fire grill, 32,000 won for 2-3: how it tastes

And now the main dish we ordered, the soy sauce pork straw-fire grill! The price is ₩32,000 for 2-3 people. It comes out piled high on a tray-like plate, with plenty of meat and lots of extras like green onion and onion, so the balance was really good!

The subtle smoky aroma from being grilled over straw fire was great, and while the soy sauce seasoning is a bit sweet, it's not overly sweet, so it goes really well with rice haha. I thought it was exactly the kind of seasoning kids would love, and sure enough, my baby ate it up too, which made me so proud. Highly recommend as a family dining spot with young kids!

Lettuce wraps that worked with just ssamjang and rice

Building the namul bibimbap at the table

The adults just wrapped fresh lettuce with plenty of meat and ate it in a wrap, but the ssamjang (dipping sauce) here is also delicious?? It seems to have some brown rice or something mixed in, with a nice chewy texture, and it's not too salty, so it's tasty enough to eat just spooned over rice.. This ssamjang would be delicious even in a rice wrap without any meat!

Soft steamed egg ordered as an extra side

Steamed egg as an extra side

I wanted to order at least one more side, so I added a steamed egg as a safe choice haha. It was soft and delicious, not too salty like a drinking snack, just perfectly seasoned — great for mixing into rice too. A flavor babies would enjoy as well~~~

Full dinner spread with meat and side dishes

Was the 2-3 person portion enough for three adults?

With a spread like this, of course we weren't left hungry... Honestly, since it was portioned for 2-3 people, I wondered if it might be a bit short for three of us, but with the rice and banchan, and even the option to make bibimbap if you're still hungry, plus free refills on the lettuce wraps, this really is a solid, filling place to eat haha. I'd recommend Baekhyang Jipbulgui as a great Korean restaurant near Ogeum Station for both lunch and dinner~~!! The owner's sense of hospitality is top-notch, so of course this place is going to keep doing well...
