Bangi-dong bar for solo drinking and spicy mul dakgalbi: Jojomomo

In short

Jojomomo is a Korean tavern in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul, about a 10-minute walk from Exit 11 of Jamsil Station. With the main hall fully booked, the writer took a seat at the Jojomomo bar table for the first time and ordered mul dakgalbi (soupy spicy chicken hot pot, 25,000 won), aged kimchi tuna rolls (12,000 won) and the signature nurungji dongdongju 1000ml (12,000 won) — the mul dakgalbi is the spiciest dish on the menu, a step hotter than spicy Shin Ramyun. For a Bangi-dong bar that works just as well for solo drinking as for a date, the Jojomomo bar table is the seat to take.

Main photo of Jojomomo, a Korean-style tavern in Bangi-dong

Today I'm bringing you a review of Jojomomo, a Korean-style tavern in Bangi-dong that I really love! If you follow me, you'll know this isn't my first review of it~~

It's already well known as a Bangi-dong date bar and a Bangi-dong cheongmo (blind date) bar, and every single menu item is delicious, so it's often my go-to for a first stop when I'm out drinking!! It's not just simple bar snacks — the dishes have a proper cooked-meal feel and the taste is always guaranteed.

If you're trying to decide on a spot for a Bangi-dong cheongmo, or looking for a bar for a date, I reeeally recommend this place!! There's a wide range of drinks too, so even people who can't drink much can enjoy it without pressure( •͈ᴗ-)ᓂ-ෆ Alright, let's get into today's review!!

Where is Jojomomo and what are its hours?

Jojomomo is a Korean-style tavern at 16 Ogeum-ro 11-gil B1, Songpa-gu, Seoul, 593m — under a 10-minute walk — from Exit 11 of Jamsil Station (Lines 2 and 8). It's open Mon–Fri 17:00 to 02:00 the next day (last order 01:30), and Sat–Sun 15:00 to 04:00 the next day (last order 03:00).

'Jojomomo (朝朝暮暮)' means every morning, every evening — a hideout that's always close by, where people gather from evening until morning, lost in music, drink, and food.

Tablet for wait-list registration at Jojomomo's entrance

This is a place that gets a wait not long after opening! If the hall is full, you register on the tablet right past the entrance on your right and wait~!!

Jojomomo's exterior and interior

Jojomomo signage at the stairway down to the basement

You'll see the Jojomomo sign at the entrance, then head down to the basement.

From the entrance door onward, the wood-tone interior sets a great mood! There's a reason I recommend it for Bangi-dong blind dates and date nights. The interior is calm in wood and black tones, and the music selection is so good you lose track of time.

🚻 Restroom

Go down the stairs and the restroom is right to the right of the shop door. It's not far from the tables at all, so it's not a hassle!

Interior of Jojomomo empty at opening time

This time the hall was completely full when I visited, so I couldn't take interior photos! So I'm reusing photos from a previous self-funded visit. That was a weekend opening-run at 3pm, so we were the only ones there haha (that's how serious I am about this place🔥)

✔️ Including the bar table, the place can seat about 12 parties at once.

Is the Jojomomo bar table good for solo drinking?

This was my first time sitting at the Jojomomo bar table, since there's no waiting list for it (which honestly works out great!). When I visited, the main hall was full with three parties waiting, but the bar table was available right away.

I really recommend this bar table for people drinking alone!!! It's so comfortable, and the staff seemed to respond even faster?! Since they're always busy with a full house, they're not hovering right in front of you, so no worries for introverts! Whenever I visit, the staff and owners at Jojomomo are always kind.

There's a snack menu item called **Solo Drinking Set**. I've been dying to try this one but haven't actually visited alone yet haha. A Bangi-dong bar for solo drinking with great-tasting, good-value snacks? This is the place. This is exactly it.

Jojomomo's signature dishes and prices

Jojomomo has four signature dishes marked as recommended on the menu: Signature braised pork rib bossam (limited) ₩29,000, cream tteokbokki with gamtae (seaweed) scallop steam ₩27,000, mul dakgalbi (water-based spicy chicken) ₩25,000, and gochujang pork stew ₩25,000.

True to a Korean tavern, the menu lineup is hearty! But it's not a rice-restaurant kind of feel — it's the perfect style for drinking snacks, so even after a few drinks and a full stomach, you find yourself eyeing the next dish.(૭ ᐕ)૭ Especially the four recommended signature dishes — try each one at least once! They're all so good it's hard to pick just one.

Drinks menu at Jojomomo

You can choose your drink by mood or taste, but if it's your first visit, definitely try the signature nurungji (scorched rice) dongdongju~!! The nutty scent of nurungji, slightly sweet with a bit of fizz, pairs beautifully with the dongdongju!! The standard liquor menu is there too, of course!

⭐️ Jojomomo's feel-good start⭐️

✅ Jojomomo gives every guest a welcome shot! The drink is gangsoju! ✅ Basic side dish_ potato salad and crackers

It's 13% ABV, so after one shot you can feel your stomach warm up nicely. The finish and aroma are so good that I bet a lot of people taste the gangsoju and end up ordering a full bottle!

That quietly helpful sidekick〰️👀🫧 This potato salad gets me every time — it's a little magic trick. Spread on a cracker, the texture is soft yet crumbly, not too sweet or salty, just plain delicious.

Signature nurungji dongdongju 1000ml, 12,000 won

✔️ Order the signature nurungji dongdongju as the 1000ml, not the glass, and it comes in a tavern-style gourd bottle. ✨so pretty✨

At 1000ml plus a ceramic bottle, it has some real weight — pour carefully! How's this shimmer of dongdongju created by thin ice bits and sparkle? 🌊✨✨

Ahh... whatever else you drink, always start with the dongdongju! Nutty, sweet, and fizzy — nothing overdoes it, the balance is insane.

Aged kimchi tuna rolls, 12,000 won

✔️ Aged kimchi tuna rolls — this place doesn't skimp on ingredients. No exaggeration, it's thicker than my wrist, and packed full of tuna and rice.

Plate of thick aged kimchi tuna rolls

You can see the composition better from the cross-section. The key to this tuna roll is the rice!! It's soft, sticky rice, and the combo of tuna and perilla leaf with that sticky texture is a work of art.

In particular, the well-rinsed aged kimchi cuts through any richness from the tuna. Just one piece gives you the effect of two or three spoonfuls of rice, so it's great for lining your stomach before drinking!!

Cross-section of the aged kimchi tuna roll

I wanted to show off the size so badly that I set it on my palm... and even compared it against a fist next to it.

So pretty.💕 Put a little wasabi on top and every bite is a treat✨

Mul dakgalbi, 25,000 won — how spicy is it?

✔️ Mul dakgalbi 🌶️🌶️🌶️ This is the spiciest item at Jojomomo! I always held back for the sake of whoever I was with, but this was my first time actually ordering it.

It comes out already simmering, so you just cook the vegetables and sweet potato a bit longer and dig in!

Pot of mul dakgalbi served bubbling

Under a generous pile of minari (water celery), there's a ton of boneless chicken! The broth was rich and thick, more like a jjigalgi (stew-style dish), which I loved.✨

Boneless chicken layered under minari in the mul dakgalbi

While it simmers a bit more, eat the rice cakes first. They're cooked all the way through, almost falling apart, and the seasoning had soaked in completely. When I tasted a bit of the broth through the tteokbokki rice cake, it was genuinely spicy-hot. It was a step above the spicy level of Jin Ramyun or Shin Ramyun. 🌶️If you can't handle spice, sip slowly so you don't choke.🌶️

Rice cakes soaked in seasoning from the mul dakgalbi

The chicken tastes even better with the minari. There's a reason they loaded it up so generously.

⭐️Save some of the tuna roll to eat alongside it!⭐️ I don't even need to say it, that combo is amazing, right?🥹 There's also a tuna bibimbap on the menu, which I bet is great eaten like a rice ball!

Every side dish is so good that the drinks go down even more smoothly. One glass of dongdongju at a time just isn't enough, so I highly recommend the 1000ml🔥 I promise you won't regret it.

Once again, I leave Jojomomo fully satisfied🎶 If you're curious about reviews of the other signature dishes, check out my earlier self-funded post linked above.

Why Jojomomo is worth a visit

  • ✅ A Korean-style tavern you can only find in Bangi-dong! High-quality snack dishes paired well with a range of traditional liquors. A bar where you can eat a real meal while drinking!
  • ✅ And the vibe? Insane. Even though it's in the basement, the interior is comfortable, warm, and calm. The lighting design is on another level — highly recommend for blind dates and dates!
  • ✅ Not a heavy price tag. It's a bar you can eat a real meal at, but the quality is high and the prices aren't a burden. Each dish is filling enough to count as a meal.
  • ✅ Friendly service, fast response! Every time I visit, I notice the staff and owners are all kind. Even when they're slammed with a long line of waiting parties, they always serve with a smile.
