Seodaemun restaurant in Seoul for beef intestine nabe: Gopeugopeu
In short
Gopeugopeu is a Western-style restaurant on Chungjeongno 6-gil in Seodaemun, Seoul. Over an after-work dinner with a friend, the order was the dinner menu's Korean beef intestine nabe (hot pot) at 26,000 won, mentaiko oil spaghetti at 14,000 won, and a highball. With a facade like a small European eatery and a cozy room lined with posters and knick-knacks, Gopeugopeu suits an evening out where the mood matters as much as the food.

One day I wanted a good dinner with a friend after work and a leisurely chat we hadn't had in a while, so I went to Gopeugopeu.
When looking for a dinner date spot in Seodaemun, I prefer somewhere that isn't too formal — a place where you can sit comfortably and talk, but that still looks pretty in photos. This place hit exactly that sweet spot :)
Gopeugopeu's exterior: a small European eatery in Seodaemun

Gopeugopeu is a Western-style restaurant tucked into an alley off Chungjeongno 6-gil. As I walked into the alley looking for it, the exterior alone caught my eye — it has a quietly stylish look that reminds me of a small European restaurant.
Since it was a rare meetup with my friend, this warm atmosphere felt even more welcome.
Inside Gopeugopeu: posters, props and a cozy room
The inside of Gopeugopeu felt comfortable and cozy overall, with posters and props scattered here and there, so it was fun just to look around the space.

The interior isn't overly flashy, but even the small props build up the mood, so the space photographed with a lot of character.
Above all, it was a comfortable atmosphere for sitting across from a friend and chatting over a meal.
Since this was a meetup after work, I wanted somewhere warm rather than loud or crowded, and I felt like I'd picked the right vibe that day.
Gopeugopeu's menu: lunch and dinner sections

Gopeugopeu's menu is split into lunch and dinner. The menu composition and prices vary a bit depending on when you visit, so if you're planning to go, it might help to check a photo of the menu ahead of time.
What we ordered that day was the Korean beef intestine nabe, the mentaiko oil spaghetti, and a highball.
We visited in the evening, so we checked the dinner menu and picked dishes that were good for sharing between two people.
Korean beef intestine nabe, 26,000 won
The Korean beef intestine nabe (26,000 won) came out first. Having a warm soup dish on the table made the after-work dinner feel much more filling.
The savory flavor from the beef intestine blended so well with the broth that my spoon kept going back for more, haha.
Sharing the broth and fishing out pieces of intestine one by one with my friend made the meal even more fun.
Mentaiko oil spaghetti (14,000 won) with a highball
For pasta, we ordered the mentaiko oil spaghetti (14,000 won). It was a dish where the salty umami of the mentaiko (seasoned pollock roe) blended nicely with the savory richness of the oil.

When there are two of us, I like ordering different dishes to share rather than sticking to just one, and this combination worked really well that day 👍🏻

Pairing the good food with a cold highball while catching up on everything we hadn't gotten to talk about made a weekday evening feel almost like a little getaway.
Why Gopeugopeu works for dinner near Chungjeongno and Seodaemun stations

What I liked most about Gopeugopeu that day was how well the food and the atmosphere of the space matched each other.
The cozy, European feel carries through from the exterior to the interior, and the posters and props blend naturally into the space, so it seems like a great fit for when you want a little more atmosphere than an ordinary dinner date.

After a busy day, taking a little break with good food in a nice-looking space felt better than I expected.
If you're looking for a good restaurant near Seodaemun Station or Chungjeongno Station, and want the space to feel as good as the food, I think I'll be back to Gopeugopeu :)
