Munjeong Japanese restaurant: seed jeotgal pot rice at Gome Mui
In short
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong is a Japanese restaurant built around solbap (rice cooked in a stone pot), on basement level 1 of Tera Tower Building A by Munjeong Station in Songpa, Seoul. Two pots came to the table at 17,000 won each — steak pot rice and spring-greens wild sea bream pot rice — served with pollack roe and seed jeotgal (seasoned seed-and-roe relish), sheets of seaweed, and nurungji (scorched rice tea) to close. Gome Mui suits office workers near Munjeong Station who want a mild, clean-tasting lunch or dinner rather than anything heavy or spicy.

A Munjeong Station restaurant recommendation — Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong, where the steak pot rice and sea bream pot rice are both excellent.

I was looking for a hearty but clean meal near Munjeong Station and ended up here! Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong serves everything from pot rice to tonkatsu, udon, and curry. The pot rice lineup in particular was varied enough to pick based on your mood. If you're after a satisfying but not-too-heavy meal, I think this place works — let me introduce it :)

Inside Gome Mui: atmosphere and seating
Inside, Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong has a clean, warm atmosphere with wood-tone interiors, and a variety of table seating is available. It's an open kitchen setup, so you can see the food being made to some extent.

Walking in, the whole place felt clean and warm. The two pot rice dishes ordered at Gome Mui
At Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong we ordered the steak pot rice at ₩17,000 and the spring herb wild sea bream pot rice at ₩17,000. One meat, one fish — completely different flavor directions, which made them great to share.

Here's what we ordered — two pot rice dishes that day.
- ✅ Steak pot rice ₩17,000
- ✅ Spring herb wild sea bream pot rice ₩17,000
We ordered both as pot rice, but since one was meat and one was fish, the flavor directions were completely different, which made them great to order together and share.

Steak pot rice, 17,000 won: was the wagyu tough?
Gome Mui's steak pot rice at ₩17,000 pairs premium wagyu with a house-made sauce over rice. The meat wasn't tough at all and chewed smoothly, going great with the rice.
Let me introduce the steak pot rice first.

They showed us how to eat the pot rice, which made it even tastier haha

It's pot rice with premium wagyu and a house-made sauce, and the meat was really tender — more than I expected. With steak pot rice, if the meat is tough it can be disappointing eaten with rice, but here the meat wasn't tough at all and chewed smoothly, which I liked.

Mixing the rice and meat inside the pot evenly with the sauce spreads the meat's flavor through the whole bowl.

The savory flavor of the meat combined with the umami of the house sauce gave it noticeably more depth than plain rice would. In particular, the sauce soaked well into the grains, so a bite of meat with rice together was a great combo!

Rather than being sharply salty, it leaned toward umami when the meat and rice were eaten together, so it wasn't overwhelming, and one pot left me quite full.

The side dishes served with it were great too haha. They gave us pollack roe and seasoned roe relish, so you could top it on as you liked!
Spring-greens wild sea bream pot rice, 17,000 won, wrapped in seaweed
The spring herb wild sea bream pot rice at ₩17,000 pairs wild sea bream flesh with seasonal herbs over rice. The mild sea bream, fragrant herbs, and the accompanying soy sauce and seaweed made for a completely different feel from the steak pot rice.

Next up is the spring herb wild sea bream pot rice! It's pot rice with wild sea bream flesh and seasonal herbs, and it felt completely different from the steak pot rice. They showed us how to eat this one too!

The sea bream had a mild, clean flavor that wasn't heavy with the rice, and above all, the fragrance of the seasonal herbs was really lovely. With the herbs mixed in, the rice itself had a subtle aroma that kept me reaching for more.

I also mixed in the soy sauce that came with it — this soy sauce was fragrant too and paired really well with the sea bream.👍🏼

It's tasty just eating the sea bream over rice, but wrapping the sea bream and rice together in seaweed gives it a whole different taste! Delicious!

The mild sea bream, fragrant herbs, and nutty seaweed together made a really nice combination.
Personally, if you prefer a clean, mild meal over something bold and strongly flavored, I'd recommend the spring herb wild sea bream pot rice.
Nurungji to finish: two pots is enough for two people
Gome Mui's pot rice can be finished off with nurungji (scorched rice). We had nurungji after finishing most of both pot rice dishes, and two pots for two people was plenty filling.

And of course, the last step of pot rice is nurungji :) We finished both pot rice dishes with nurungji after eating most of the rice. Pressing down and eating the rice left in the pot brought out a nutty, toasty flavor, keeping the meal satisfying all the way to the end!

At first I wondered if two pot rice dishes would be too much, but after finishing everything from the rice to the nurungji, it really was a satisfying meal.
Is Gome Mui worth it for a meal near Munjeong Station?
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong has a good variety of pot rice, so it's easy to pick based on what ingredient you're craving that day. In particular, the steak pot rice had meat that was tender rather than tough, and the spring herb wild sea bream pot rice paired fragrant seasonal herbs nicely with mild sea bream. Both dishes could be finished off with nurungji, which made them fairly filling as a full meal.
If you're near Munjeong Station looking for a clean, satisfying meal, this is a Munjeong Station restaurant worth a visit. Since it's inside Tera Tower, it's also easy to access if you have a lunch or dinner appointment nearby — a Tera Tower restaurant near Munjeong Station I'd recommend. Next time I'd love to try the abalone pot rice or the eel pot rice haha!
