Daechi-dong sushi restaurant: caviar and scallop maki at Sushi Ian N

In short

Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station is a flat-price conveyor-belt sushi restaurant in Daechi-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, close to Seolleung Station. Visiting as a couple in the evening, the writer picked plates straight off the rail, then wrote out a single post-it order once the popular items disappeared, and the caviar-topped seasonal sushi and the scallop maki were the most memorable plates. The sushi at Sushi Ian N tastes clean rather than heavy-handed, so the plates keep going down without getting tiring.

After a date in Daehangno, my boyfriend suddenly wanted sushi. There are so many conveyor-belt sushi places these days that I had to think about it, but I decided on Sushi Ian N, a brand that's been getting popular lately. This is already my third visit!!

Where is Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station, and where do you park?

Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station is on the 2nd floor of a building close to Seolleung Station. I didn't realize it, but it turned out to be near a café I went to last time haha.

The parking lot is in the alley to the left of the building. It's double parking, so I was worried about getting a call while eating, but thankfully that didn't happen.

If the lot is full, you can also use the parking lot at the building across the street! But that one only supports 1 hour, so you have to eat a bit hurriedly, which is a downside haha.

What are the restrooms and the dining room like at Sushi Ian N?

As soon as we sat down I rushed to the bathroom I'd been holding, and I was surprised how clean and sleek it was — almost like a department store bathroom. Even people who are picky about bathrooms could use this comfortably. I also liked that it was separated by gender.

As soon as we sat down, they brought the soup right away, and you can help yourself to as much soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger as you want.

Counter and table seating in the wood-tone interior

We came right at dinner time, so the rail was full of sushi. The restaurant has a warm wood-tone interior with both counter and table seats. It's great for eating alone or on a date, and the group seating doesn't require a long wait either, so it seems good for family gatherings or work dinners too. Above all, the place is spacious and not cramped, making it perfect for a comfortable meal.

Flat-price plates and the caviar seasonal sushi

Sushi Ian N's biggest advantage is the flat pricing! Absolutely the best value!! When we went, there was a seasonal menu, so there were lots of sushi we don't normally see. Apparently it's known for sushi made with sauces and toppings developed by a former head chef from a 5-star hotel, and this season there was even caviar, which is normally too pricey to eat often. Mouth-watering.

There's also a service menu for kids. Little ones can have a hard time eating a variety of sushi, but here they also give french fries, so it seems like a good spot for families too.

Top pick at Sushi Ian N: how does the scallop maki taste?

Time to really dig in. At first we grabbed whatever was on the rail, but as it got busier the popular sushi disappeared, so we started ordering directly. My top pick was the scallop maki! I liked that there was no wasabi in it, and the rice wasn't too much, so the ratio was just right. The sushi wasn't overpowering and was made to bring out the flavor of the ingredients themselves, so it never got old and I kept eating. There were also quite a variety of fried items and desserts besides sushi, which were great to eat in between to refresh the palate.

How to order at Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station: post-it notes, no table ordering

It was a bit disappointing that Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station had no table order system or QR code. Other branches have it, so you can just order that way. But when we tried to order a lot at once, the owner gave us a pen and a post-it haha. Even without that, telling the chef in front of you works fine too — they listen well and remember, so it wasn't a problem.

What happens when you order a lot all at once... just looking at it feels satisfying haha. Eating like this made it feel just like being at an omakase.

Side menu board listing half-size udon and cold soba

There are side menu items besides sushi too, for reference. It's really nice that udon and cold soba have half-size options. I was going to order the cold soba but skipped it because I was too full.

Wrapping up with a top shot of today's plates. For reference, there's a review event offering 1 free plate of sushi or a drink!

Final verdict on Sushi Ian N Seolleung Station

I wasn't that hungry before going and told myself I'd eat in moderation, but once I started eating it was so good I ended up overeating haha. There's a good variety and it's delicious, so it's a place I keep coming back to. Despite the size of the restaurant, it wasn't too crowded, so the atmosphere was also good for a date! Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy sushi in a clean, relaxed setting without breaking the bank.
