Thai restaurant in Seongdong, Seoul for crab curry: Soi Nana

I was watching YouTube when I suddenly got hit with a craving for pu pat pong curry, like a food god had sent me a sign… so I went to Soi Nana, a great Thai restaurant in Seongsu.

If food is too local, the spices can make it hard to enjoy, but Soi Nana is a Thai restaurant that really suits Korean palates. It’s the closest Thailand you can escape to from Seongsu haha.

A Southeast Asian atmosphere in Seongsu

There are outdoor tables too, and I absolutely loved that tropical, exotic Southeast Asian feel 🌴 On a nice day, when there’s a gentle breeze, having Thai food like pu pat pong curry, bún chả, and pho at an outdoor table feels like being on a trip ☀️ The two cute capybaras are part of the outdoor seating charm.

The window view is the highlight. The wide opening window makes it a great spot to enjoy the exotic atmosphere. Dogs are allowed at these seats too 🐶 Restricted breeds may be limited, so be sure to check beforehand!

Soi Nana has such a lovely atmosphere for getting into the mood for Thai food in Seongsu 💛 It reminded me of eating at a local pho place with this kind of vibe while traveling in Southeast Asia, so it gave me that travel feeling too.

What I ordered by tablet after reserving

I made a Naver Booking reservation in advance, so the table was already set up. The utensils were individually wrapped, which felt hygienic and nice. The side plates and water cups were cute too.

You can order through the tablet at each table. I ordered pho, bún chả, and pu pat pong curry! Soi Nana is known for its pu pat pong curry served with fried crab shell, so I definitely recommend trying it!

Tender beef pho

The broth is basically a tonic. It’s rich and full of savory flavor, but not salty or heavy. It comes with bok choy, garlic flakes, and bean sprouts.

The tender beef is thick and soft, so the texture is great. I loved the generous amount of tender beef, slow-cooked at a low temperature for a long time. There’s an option to add cilantro too, so cilantro lovers, scream ~ 🌴💚 I love pho piled high with cilantro. It’s so fragrant haha. The extra cilantro comes separately, which also makes it easy to share.

Bún chả with vegetable spring rolls

Bún chả was just as delicious as soup pho when I traveled in Southeast Asia, and Soi Nana’s bún chả was generous with a really nice combination of components. It even comes with vegetable spring rolls, so you get to enjoy something fried too—such a bonus.

Pour the tangy sauce over the rice noodles, mix well, then eat it with charcoal-grilled meat and vegetables: such a winning combo 💚 The vegetables were fresh, and the tangy noodles really woke up my appetite. It has a totally different charm from soup pho. The fresh sweet-and-sour noodles and smoky meat made it feel like such an interesting, delicious dish.

Pu pat pong curry with fried crab

This is Soi Nana’s pu pat pong curry, served in a seriously big bowl. It’s a generous portion for about 1.5 people, which I loved. I also loved the thick, rich, creamy curry sauce.

It comes with rice topped with garlic chips. The fried crab is crispy and rich, and with the pu pat pong curry sauce, it’s soft and so delicious! It’s distinctly different from ordinary curry—so smooth, with exceptional savory crab flavor 💛 The creamy flavor of coconut milk and egg goes so well with the curry. I love curry, and if you still haven’t tried pu pat pong curry, I hope you’ll try it at Soi Nana, a Thai restaurant in Seongsu, at least once haha.
