Sejong Naseong-dong jokbal restaurant for wine nights: Cheongmigwan
In short
Cheongmigwan Sejong Naseong Main Branch is a premium jokbal (braised pig trotter) and bossam restaurant in the Naseong-dong dining alley of Sejong. Invited to a friend's home in Sejong, the writer ordered the Cheongmi Half-and-Half Jokbal — plain Cheongmi front trotter plus spicy chive fire jokbal — as takeout and ate it with wine, finding the skin springy, the meat moist and not a trace of gaminess. Cheongmigwan is the place to try mild and spicy jokbal in a single order.

I was invited to dinner at a friend's place in Sejong. Since I'd never had jokbal (pig trotter) in Sejong before, I wanted to try it out rather than just cooking at home, so we decided to order in. This is a post about Cheongmigwan Sejong Naseong Main Branch, a Naseong-dong favorite known for its great atmosphere and chewy front-leg jokbal, plus its half-and-half combo.

Where is Cheongmigwan Sejong Naseong Main Branch, and what are its hours?
Cheongmigwan Sejong Naseong Main Branch is located at 23 Naseongbuk 1-ro, Sejong, and is open from 16:00 to 23:00 (last order at 22:00). There's underground parking, so it was easy to get to by car.

This Naseong-dong favorite for its great atmosphere and chewy front-leg jokbal, and for its half-and-half combo, sits right in the middle of the Naseong-dong dining district — it stood out, looking far too fancy to be just a jokbal place.

An interior that looks nothing like a typical jokbal joint
The inside of this Naseong-dong favorite felt noticeably classier than a typical jokbal restaurant. Wood-toned interiors and soft lighting create a great mood, and the tables are spaced generously, some sectioned off with partitions for a more private meal.

Here's the menu at Cheongmigwan Sejong Naseong Main Branch. With the feel of an upscale Korean restaurant, it's a popular Naseong-dong spot for premium jokbal and bossam, standing out for its chewy meat and clean side dish selection.
What comes in the Cheongmi Half-and-Half Jokbal takeout order?
Moist, tender jokbal with no gamy smell — a takeout review of the Cheongmi Half-and-Half Jokbal
We ordered the Cheongmi Half-and-Half Jokbal.

The Cheongmi Half-and-Half Jokbal comes in two styles: Cheongmi plain jokbal and chive fire jokbal.

It also came with side dishes that go well alongside — pickled radish, garlic, chili, salted shrimp, pickled chili, and more — so we could mix it up in all kinds of combinations.

My friend insisted that even a single bite should look pretty, and set the table beautifully for us. As lovely as her face, honestly ^^

Cheongmi front trotter: Solomon's seal salt and herbal ingredients
Cheongmi plain jokbal is Cheongmigwan's signature dish, made with domestic front-leg pork. The front-leg cut has a high ratio of lean meat while still keeping just the right amount of skin and collagen, so you get the truest taste of jokbal. It's boiled with Solomon's seal root salt and herbal ingredients, giving it a subtle nuttiness and deep flavor.

Chive fire jokbal: spicy smoky heat under a chive salad
Chive fire jokbal takes the plain Cheongmi jokbal and adds a spicy special sauce with a smoky fire-grilled flavor. It keeps all the chewiness of the jokbal while adding a spicy-sweet savoriness and charred flavor — a great pairing with drinks. The chive salad on top also cuts through the richness nicely.

How does Cheongmigwan's jokbal taste with wine?
The jokbal at Cheongmigwan Sejong Naseong Main Branch has springy, chewy skin and moist, tender meat, with a clean taste and no gamy smell at all. It's delicious even plain, and even better with sides added in.

It was even better with wine. The jokbal kept its chewiness while the spicy-sweet savoriness and charred flavor made it a fantastic drinking snack. It was truly a happy, meaningful time full of good conversation.
