If you're in Sokcho, isn't eating sashimi while looking at the sea basically the rule? This time I visited a sashimi restaurant at Sokcho Tourist and Fishery Market, in Sokcho's central market. There are so many sashimi places that it was hard to decide where to go, but I heard there's a famous spot known for takeout sashimi. Today's post is a review of '진미활어센터' (Jinmi Hwareo Center), which I recommend as a sashimi restaurant at Sokcho Tourist and Fishery Market~!!

How to find Jinmi Hwareo Center: basement level, stall 145

To find a sashimi restaurant at Sokcho Tourist and Fishery Market, you need to head to the basement seafood hall. They really sell a ton of sashimi down there~!! Jinmi Hwareo Center is right in view if you come down through basement entrance 7, and if you come down through the middle entrance, go left (diagonally) once you're downstairs!

The sign you see right away coming down basement entrance 7! And it keeps going along that side too — all Jinmi Hwareo Center!

Jinmi Hwareo Center is stall 145 at the Sokcho Tourist and Fishery Market sashimi hall! As you can see from the photos, it's a proper full-size restaurant. Actually, sashimi places often mean eating in cramped seating, but Jinmi Hwareo Center is spacious and clean, which I loved. I only did takeout, but it seems like a great place to eat in too!

So many kinds of seafood, and all fresh! While they were preparing my order, several other groups came in to get takeout too lol. Confirmed — this really is a well-loved sashimi spot at Sokcho Tourist and Fishery Market! Everyone's buying a lot here!
Dine in at Jinmi Hwareo Center: free table setting and spicy fish stew

If you eat sashimi or snow crab at Jinmi Hwareo Center, they say the table setting fee and the spicy fish stew are free! Finishing off with the stew sounds so satisfying ㅠㅠ For takeout, the stew had to be ordered separately!
What's in the ₩60,000 assorted sashimi platter for two, packed to go

Assorted sashimi for two, ₩60,000 (flounder, cobia, brill, sea squirt)
I got the assorted sashimi for two to take out! Even just two servings turned out to be quite a lot 🥺❤️ While preparing the seafood, the owner asked if I eat sea squirt, and when I said yes, they threw it in too!! Seems like they build the platter around what you can actually eat by asking along the way. So kind, and I love it 👍

Ta-da! The sashimi right after unwrapping it! They packed it with an insulated bag and an ice pack, so it made it safely all the way back to my accommodation! They also neatly packed the basic sides — vegetables, chili sauce, ssamjang, chili peppers, garlic, and more! And they even packed the sea squirt separately, so thoughtful~!

Ahh ㅠㅠㅠ isn't the color of the sashimi just gorgeous? Maybe because it was so fresh, the fish tasted sweet and chewy 🫶 Watching the fish get broken down right in front of me made it feel even fresher!

Made myself some proper wraps too >0< Out of this platter, I especially loved the white flounder! I guess I tend to like the more familiar stuff lol. Greedily piling three pieces of sashimi onto a lettuce leaf, plus garlic, chili, and ssamjang — that's the perfect bite ❤️
Honest verdict on Jinmi Hwareo Center
It's right in the middle of Sokcho's central market, so access is great, and the restaurant itself is big and clean, which I loved. On top of that, when I opened up the sashimi I'd taken out, it was fresh and wonderfully chewy.. ❤️ I only ordered for two, but the portion was so big I got completely full ㅠㅠ!! If you're looking for a sashimi restaurant at Sokcho Tourist and Fishery Market, I recommend 'Jinmi Hwareo Center'!!
