Black pork is the first thing that comes to mind whenever a Jeju trip starts or ends! During this trip, I visited Pork80 Jeju Airport Branch, a black pork restaurant near Jeju Airport that nailed everything from location to taste to atmosphere.

It's close to both Jeju Airport and Dream Tower, so the accessibility is great — and the meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) and meat quality here are on a completely different level from other BBQ places, so I really wanted to share it :)

The moment I walked into Pork80 Jeju Airport Branch, what struck me was how spacious and clean the space was kept. BBQ places usually feel a bit stifling because of grease or smoke, but Pork80 had generous spacing between tables and felt genuinely comfortable — the atmosphere was perfect!

It's a great space for a family gathering, a date, or just to kick off your trip with a good first meal — this is actually where we went right after landing in Jeju! Thanks to the clean interior, I felt well taken care of throughout the meal :)

Why Pork80's local-style meljeot comes in a stew pot, not a dipping dish

The biggest reason I'd strongly recommend Pork80 Jeju Airport Branch as a black pork restaurant in Jeju City is the meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce)! Most BBQ places serve a tiny bit of meljeot in a small dish, simmered down on the grill. Here, surprisingly, it comes out in a full-size stew bowl, the kind usually used for doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)!

The first look at the table setting already told me this was a different level of flavor. That deep, savory umami you only really get in Jeju exploded in the bowl — unlike ordinary meljeot that's just salty, this one had a rich, broth-like depth, so even dipping meat deep into it never felt overwhelming, just clicked right into place. The meljeot alone is worth the visit!

Nanchuk Matdon black pork and Pork80's staff grilling service

Pork80's meat uses Nanchuk Matdon and other pork known for its quality, so the texture and flavor are excellent. On top of that, a staff member grills the meat for you personally to make sure it's cooked at its best!

Grilled by an expert hand, the outside came out crisp and the inside moist, with the juices locked right in — the burst of juice on the first bite was seriously impressive. Dipping a piece of grilled black pork deep into the stew bowl of meljeot brings the savory and umami flavors together into something that makes you go 'wow.'
