Mapo kaisendon, yellowtail and two salmon cuts: Makise Hapjeong
In short
Makise Hapjeong is a kaisendon (seafood rice bowl) restaurant in a basement space on Poeun-ro 2na-gil in Mapo, Seoul, named after the Korean phrase "leave it to omakase" and serving sushi as one spoonable bowl. From a bar counter seat, the writer ordered the signature kaisendon and ate through white fish, yellowtail, raw and torched salmon, squid, tuna, herring, ankimo (monkfish liver) and tamagoyaki in order. The sashimi at Makise Hapjeong was good enough to feel like a sashimi platter, and a receipt review added fried mozzarella cheese for free.

Hi everyone~ it's Juju💙 I love sashimi so, so much~ I was wandering around Hapjeong when I suddenly craved kaisendon and ended up at this kaisendon restaurant, 'Makise Hapjeong'🐟

Where is Makise Hapjeong, and what are the hours?
Makise Hapjeong is a kaisendon specialty restaurant at 44 Poeun-ro 2na-gil, B01, basement level, Mapo-gu, Seoul. It's open 11:30-21:00 with a break time of 15:00-17:00, and there's no parking.

The name 'Makise' apparently comes from reading it as 'omakase-reul makgise!' (roughly, 'leave the omakase to me!') haha!! A single bowl of scoop-and-eat sushi omakase — just thinking about it made my mouth water🤤

Bar counter seats, free side dishes and the receipt review event
Inside Makise Hapjeong there were 4-seat tables, 2-seat tables, and bar counter seats — I sat at the bar counter~~ The side dishes were set out at every table so I could refill them freely!

They give you mozzarella cheese fries for a receipt review event, so definitely join in on that too!

Each table had a cute little paper explaining how to eat it🍣🍣

They also brought out a clear soup, so I waited after ordering

What comes in the signature kaisendon at Makise Hapjeong?
I ordered the signature menu, kaisendon🤤🐟

It came out after a short wait, and the lineup was so varied ㅜㅜ Maybe that's why almost every other customer seemed to be ordering kaisendon too!

The visuals were insane(P) — did I order a sashimi platter or something?

As a sashimi lover, I get so excited over good sashimi quality ㅜ This really is a kaisendon restaurant,, I'm glad I came to Hapjeong,,

The taste from that moment suddenly popped into my head and I got so excited ㅠㅠ I was rushing to take photos and eat when

they even handed out hair ties so you could tie your hair back and eat! The owner really knows how to eat,, when you're eating something delicious you gotta tie your hair up~ that way it tastes even better? ahem

From white fish to yellowtail: the order to eat them in
I ate my way through the kaisendon starting with the white fish. I heard you're supposed to start with white fish👉👈
With wasabi piled on top of the rice. As a wasabi lover, a generous heap is essential

Then piling sashimi on top of that — how good could it possibly be ㅠㅠ Being able to control the rice portion yourself is the special thing about kaisendon!!

Yellowtail,, everyone, it's yellowtail. Winter hasn't even come yet, why are you already this good. Someone who's been waiting for winter since spring = me

As a fish lover, tears are practically coming out of my mouth🥺🤤 ah, happiness~~ happiness is close by,, the yellowtail just melts in your mouth

Raw salmon, torched salmon, squid and tuna
Makise Hapjeong's kaisendon comes topped with two kinds of salmon — raw and torched. Can you believe salmon comes in two types here. As a salmon lover, Juju gobbled it right up>_< tmi but there was a time I loved salmon so much I only ate salmon for months aka the salmon detector

The squid was so good too,, this really is a kaisendon restaurant, I shouted it to myself 100 times, owner. I'm coming back to Hapjeong~~

Ah, can't skip the tuna. Actually I saved the tuna for last on purpose hehe
Herring wrapped in seaweed, then ankimo (monkfish liver)
This one's herring I think, also one of my all-time favorite fish. Put the rice on top of the seaweed (gim)

Add wasabi too, then put the herring on — ah, my mouth turns into an ocean world~~

My love, ankimo (monkfish liver),,💛 has arrived~~ it has arrived, ankimo has arrived. I didn't know kaisendon would come with ankimo

With tamagoyaki (egg omelet) added too, it's such a full spread of kaisendon

And I scraped it all clean like this
Fried mozzarella cheese from the receipt review
I joined the review event too~~ can you see the cheese stretching~~ I got so into stretching the cheese

Took a whole cart of photos to show off to my blog neighbors, woohoo
