Gimpo marinated galbi restaurant with crab banchan: Jeongwon Galbi
In short
Jeongwon Galbi Gimpo Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled galbi (marinated ribs) restaurant at 40 Gimpohangang 8-ro in Yangchon-eup, Gimpo, Gyeonggi. On a Saturday lunch a couple ordered one full plate of Jeongwon marinated grilled meat with two bowls of rice, doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and a drink, and were happy to find gejang (soy-marinated crab) among the basic side dishes plus a self-serve banchan bar. Between the sweet marinade with charcoal smoke and the large parking lot, Jeongwon Galbi works well for a family meal out.

My husband and I went to Jeongwon Galbi over the weekend — a spot near our place we hadn't visited in a while.

We'd been here a few times before and always remembered enjoying the food. It had been a while, so on a whim we went for Saturday lunch. This time we ordered the Jeongwon-style marinated grilled galbi full plate! We added two bowls of rice, doenjang stew (soybean paste soup), and a drink, and left completely full.
Where is Jeongwon Galbi Gimpo Main Branch, and is parking easy?
Jeongwon Galbi Gimpo Main Branch is on the 1st floor at 40 Gimpohangang 8-ro, Yangchon-eup, Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is open Monday to Sunday from 11:00 to 22:00. Parking is available, and the lot is huge!
Is Jeongwon Galbi big enough for a family meal out?
We came during Saturday lunch, and quite a few people were already eating — being the weekend and all. Still, the place itself is so large that even with a crowd it never felt cramped. There were tons of families out for a meal together. There's separate group seating too, and some tables looked like family gatherings.

Some people were even setting up cakes at their tables. Watching them, I thought this would be a great place to book the group seating for a parent's birthday or a family gathering sometime.
How large is the parking lot at Jeongwon Galbi?
One of my favorite things about Jeongwon Galbi: the huge parking lot. You can park in front of the restaurant, and there's an even bigger lot around the back. Weekend dining in Gimpo can be stressful because of parking at a lot of places, but here there's plenty of space, making it easy to drive over. It would also work well as a meeting spot for a group where several family members each drive separately.
A trampoline play area for kids outside the restaurant
Outside the restaurant there's a separate play area for kids.

There's even a trampoline, so it looked like a great spot to bring kids along — the adults can eat while the kids play outside for a bit. That explains why there are so many family customers.
Ordering one full plate of Jeongwon marinated grilled meat
That day we ordered the Jeongwon marinated grilled galbi full plate.

On top of that we added two bowls of rice, doenjang stew, and a drink.

You can't talk about pork galbi without mentioning that sweet marinade, right? The Jeongwon marinated grill had the meat well soaked in a sweet marinade too.

And since it's grilled directly over charcoal, the smell as the meat started cooking was already amazing.

Sweet marinade plus charcoal aroma — the kind of flavor that makes you crave rice right away! It was just as good as I remembered from our last visit.

My husband and I grilled it up ourselves and ate it happily.
Basic side dishes at Jeongwon Galbi, including gejang crab
The basic side dishes that came with the meat were varied too — and I personally love crab dishes.

So when crab side dish showed up among the basic banchan, that was already a happy surprise for me.

I ate rice with the crab, then a bite of meat, then tried each side dish one by one — all of them were tasty overall. And if you run low on any side dish, you can go grab more yourself from the self-serve bar.

It was convenient being able to go back for a little more of whichever side dishes we liked.
Rice and doenjang stew to go with the grilled galbi
We always have rice and doenjang stew with grilled meat, so this time too we ordered two bowls of rice along with doenjang stew.

The doenjang stew hit exactly the flavor my husband and I like. A bite of sweet marinated grill, a bite of rice, then some warm doenjang stew — that combo never fails. We ate our way happily through the marinated grill full plate, rice, and doenjang stew.
Is Jeongwon Galbi still worth it? Verdict on this Guraedong favorite
Jeongwon Galbi is near our place, so we'd been a few times before. Going back with my husband after a while, we enjoyed it just as much this time.

Grilling the sweet marinated meat over charcoal was great, and we could really taste the charcoal aroma. The side dishes, crab included, and the doenjang stew all suited our taste well. Best of all, the staff were all friendly, which made the whole meal a pleasant experience.
The restaurant is also very spacious, with group seating and a kids' play area, so it seems like a good option for family meals or occasions like a parent's birthday with a larger group. Next time we have a family gathering, I'm thinking of booking the group seating and coming back. Jeongwon Galbi is known not just for pork galbi but for beef galbi too, so if you're looking for beef galbi in Gimpo, it's worth a visit. And if you're searching for a Guraedong local favorite with easy parking that's good for family visits, Jeongwon Galbi is worth checking out.
