A full spread of sundae-guk at Paldam Sundae Gimpo Main Branch

Paldam Sundae has become famous in Gimpo for its sundae omakase! It was already popular before, but I heard there's now waiting too, so I booked on CatchTable the moment I woke up and headed over — and yes, the Gimpo sundae-guk (blood sausage soup) was delicious as always.

Sunday morning CatchTable booking — how long is the wait?

We went on a Sunday morning, and being the weekend, there were quite a lot of people. Business hours start at 10 AM, but you can book on the app from 9:30 AM. We booked a little after 10, and there were about 16 teams ahead with a 1-hour wait. Since we booked from home and got ready and left in time, we could eat right away — nice.

Paldam Sundae's Gimpo location looks clean from the outside, and there's a parking lot right next door, fitting about 6 cars.

There was also a separate waiting area out front. Guests who couldn't book through CatchTable can get a number ticket on-site.

We arrived on time and only waited about 5 minutes out front before getting seated.

For waiting guests, they even offer coffee and cool plum tea in the hallway near the restroom — a very kind restaurant.

Business hours and the handmade sundae patent

Hours run from 10 AM to 3 PM, with last order at 2:30 PM! They only do morning-to-afternoon business, and are closed every Thursday!

Since they make sundae by hand here, you get to taste something extra special.

Interior vibe and menu prices

The interior feels cozy yet clean. Still, there are plenty of tables, so it was quite full. There were high chairs too, so it's a perfectly fine place to bring a baby along.

Think of it simply as: add just 5,000 won to the basic soup and you get sundae and head meat as sides.

How do the 3 sundae omakase types taste?

And soon the sundae omakase arrived!! You get to try 3 types of handmade sundae — cheongyang chili pepper sundae, nut sundae, and blood sundae — so I'd recommend it for first-timers 🧡

The boiled pork inside was also nicely cooked.

Three well-boiled slices of pork

Since the sundae is handmade, the filling was packed full, and it was interesting how the flavor changed depending on each ingredient.

The boiled pork was completely tender too. Even though it's head meat, there was almost no gamy smell.

A tender piece of boiled head meat

The sundae filling has a thick, rich flavor upfront, and each ingredient's distinct taste comes through, pairing really well with the sundae. Among them, the nut sundae !!! It's totally nutty, a flavor I'd never tasted before in sundae — mild yet delicious.

Clear sundae-guk vs. spicy sundae-guk

While enjoying the sundae and head meat, they bring out the bubbling hot sundae-guk. I ordered the clear version since I was eating with my baby, but people around us were mostly eating the spicy version. I've tried the spicy sundae-guk before, and if you like bold, spicy-hot flavors, I'd definitely recommend it! It's a different taste than just mixing chili paste into the regular soup, so if you handle spice well, go for the spicy sundae-guk.

Milky white sundae-guk packed with ingredients

The soup was really milky white with a visibly generous amount of ingredients. Lots of handmade sundae in there too.

They also give a generous amount of head meat, and it was really tender and so delicious ㅠㅠ There's no gamy smell at all, which is such a nice touch... For the head meat, you can choose lean meat only, or lean meat with fat, so if you can't handle fat, you can just pick lean meat only!

But I love fat, so I chose the one with fat. The fat was chewy and springy, and the lean meat shredded apart tenderly, so soft.

The broth was completely clear and rich, and it's already seasoned, so I'd recommend tasting it first before adjusting the seasoning to your liking. My baby seemed to really like the taste of the broth too.

This is the lung and pork liver I grabbed from the self-serve offal bar~~ They keep it hot continuously, so you can eat it deliciously as if it just came out fresh.

Paldam Sundae, a Gimpo sundae-guk go-to with a rich broth and special handmade sundae. The prices are kind and you can feel the owner's care in the soup, the kind of flavor that deserves applause!! Please don't get any more famous so I can keep eating this sundae-guk for the rest of my life,,
