Gongdeok dessert café vanilla bean latte and Dubai egg tart: Fluffy
In short
Fluffy Bake Shop is a baked-goods and salt bread dessert café in an alley near Gongdeok Station in Mapo, Seoul, close to the Gyeongui Line plaza. Stopping by after a meal with a friend, the writer ordered a Dubai egg tart for 7,500 won, an Americano for 4,000 won and a vanilla bean latte for 6,000 won, and tried the madeleines and financiers too. The crisp, creamy Dubai egg tart was the most memorable bite at Fluffy Bake Shop, though the salt bread and canelés were sold out by that late hour.

Whenever I eat around Gongdeok, I somehow always end up craving dessert.
This time too, a friend and I grabbed a meal near Gongdeok Station and went looking for a café, and we found a place that's apparently pretty famous for its pastries and salt bread. I looked up photos and everything looked so good that I decided on this place right away!
Walk a bit into the alley near Gyeongui Line Forest Park and you'll spot Fluffy Bake Shop. The shop itself isn't big or flashy — more of a cozy, cute vibe.

The moment I opened the door, the first thing I noticed was the smell of butter.
A rich, savory aroma hit me before I'd even looked at the menu properly, and it already had me excited. Turns out they use AOP-grade Lescure butter and bake everything fresh in-store every morning.
If you're looking for a quiet dessert spot after a meal near Gongdeok Station, I think you'd like this vibe.

What Fluffy Bake Shop in Gongdeok feels like inside
Overall, Fluffy Bake Shop felt clean and warm.
It's not a huge café with tons of tables like the big chains, but that actually made it feel less crowded and nice for a casual chat. There were also little decorative touches scattered around, which made it cute for photos too.
That said, while I was there, people kept coming in for takeout.
Since the shop is on the small side, I imagine it could get a bit busy during peak hours. If you want to sit and chat for a while without feeling rushed, it might be worth avoiding peak times.

And the variety of pastries here was really more than I expected.
Madeleines alone came in 16 flavors, financiers in 9, and canelés in 3 — I stood in front of the display case for a while just looking. I wanted to try one of everything, but with that many options, choosing actually got harder.

Eating buttery pastries like madeleines and financiers alongside coffee worked really well — the flavors didn't overpower each other.
The Americano plays a role in balancing out the sweetness of the desserts, so if you're planning to eat several pastries, ordering one alongside might be a good idea.

The Dubai egg tart at 7,500 won: first pick
What I was most curious about on this visit was the Dubai egg tart, apparently Fluffy Bake Shop's signature item.
The price was ₩7,500.
It definitely had more presence than a regular egg tart, and even from the outside you could see the pistachio and kadayif on top, which made me even more curious how it would taste.
The first thing I noticed when I took a bite was the crunch.
The outside shattered crisply while the inside was soft and creamy — the contrast in texture was really fun. Add in the nuttiness of the pistachio and the distinctive crispness of the kadayif, and it was clearly a different experience from a regular egg tart.

It's a fairly sweet dessert, but eating it with coffee balanced it out nicely, and personally, it was the item that stuck with me most from that day.
How many baked-goods flavors does Fluffy Bake Shop have?
I also picked a few madeleines and financiers, and the butter flavor really came through in these.
When you bite in, the outside is slightly firm while the inside stays moist, so it's not the type that gets dense and dry in your mouth.
I wondered how much of a difference Lescure butter would really make, but after tasting it, the nutty aroma lingered surprisingly long.
With so many madeleine flavors, there's fun in picking based on your taste, and the financiers went especially well with coffee.

They weren't overly sweet in a way that would tire you out after one or two bites — more mellow, with the butter flavor really shining through, the kind where you keep picking at them and suddenly the plate is empty.
These pastries are great to eat right away, but I also thought a few would be nice to take home and enjoy with a fresh cup of coffee.
Why the 6,000-won vanilla bean latte was worth it
For drinks, I ordered a hot Americano for ₩4,000 and a vanilla bean latte for ₩6,000.
Considering what coffee costs at cafés in Seoul these days, these prices weren't too much of a burden, which I appreciated.
The vanilla bean latte lived up to its name, with visible vanilla bean flecks throughout.
Rather than tasting like a sweet syrup latte, it had a subtle vanilla aroma with a gentle, lingering sweetness, which paired well with the desserts.

If you go late like I did, there's a chance you'll run into a 'oh, I wanted that too, and it's sold out' situation.
Especially if it's your first visit, it might be a good idea to decide on a few must-try items in advance.
In the end, I couldn't get the salt bread, so I'm planning to go a bit earlier next time. I missed out on the canelés too, so I'll need to grab both next visit.
Taking Gongdeok desserts home: packaging and gift boxes
While eating, I realized this place is just as good for takeout gifts as it is for eating in.
They have gift packaging ready, from a 4-piece pulp box to 6-piece and 15-piece gift bags, so it seemed handy for a quick thank-you gift or a dessert present for a friend.
Another plus is that you can pick and pack the pastries one by one based on your preference.
Mixing in madeleines, financiers, and canelés together would give the person receiving them the fun of choosing what to eat first.
There were actually quite a few people packing up to go while I was there, which made it clear this is a popular spot for Gongdeok dessert gifts too.

Looking for baked goods near Gongdeok Station?
Overall, Fluffy Bake Shop seems like a great fit for anyone who loves pastries with real butter flavor.
The Dubai egg tart in particular has a different texture and taste from a regular egg tart, so it's worth trying at least once, and the madeleines and financiers paired nicely with coffee.
If I had to name a downside, it's that the shop is small, so seats might be tight during busy times, and if you visit late, your preferred item might already be sold out.
Still, it was a pretty solid stop for when you've eaten near Gongdeok Station and start craving something sweet.
If you especially like pastries, there's a good chance you'll end up standing in front of the display case for a while trying to decide — I definitely did.
Next time I want to visit a bit earlier so I can properly try the salt bread and canelés I missed this time.
I found this place while looking for good pastries in Gongdeok, and my satisfaction ended up higher than expected, so I think I'll stop by again for my next meetup nearby.
Are you Team Madeleine or Team Financier? After this visit, I honestly can't give up either.
