Hapjeong shabu-shabu date with clear and spicy broth pots: Nahonsha

Today I've got a Hapjeong Station favorite to share — Nahonsha, a place that does shabu-shabu really well haha. True to its name (which basically means "eating shabu-shabu alone"), it's set up for solo dining but also works great for a casual meal out. I love shabu-shabu and eat it pretty often, so finding somewhere this good felt like a win! Let me introduce Nahonsha right away ✨

Here's the exterior. At lunch you can get mushroom, minari, and potato sujebi (dough flake soup) for ₩11,000! Great value, so it seems like a good spot to swing by for lunch too. The place is huge and there's even a parking lot, which is a big plus.

What's on the Nahonsha menu and how kiosk ordering works

Nahonsha has a wide variety of shabu-shabu broths, so you can pick whatever suits your taste. They also have sukiyaki, so if you're a sukiyaki fan, definitely recommend it!

Ordering and payment are both done through the kiosk in one go. You can add meat, vegetables, mushrooms and more, plus noodles, rice, fried rice, etc. haha

On the table there were napkins, wet wipes, and three kinds of sauce, so you can mix and match to your taste. They also brought us water and aprons!

Clear broth or spicy broth at Nahonsha — which tasted better?

I went with the clear broth at Nahonsha, which comes with basic vegetables, meat, and fresh noodles. The vegetables were varied and there was quite a lot of them. The meat portion was also just right for one person to eat comfortably.

My boyfriend picked the spicy broth, and the spicy broth was actually tastier! It wasn't too spicy, so I think even people who can't handle spice well could enjoy it. You can easily adjust the broth's water level and eat as many vegetables as you like, which was nice.

Why the 4,000 won porridge at Nahonsha disappointed

We each had a bowl of porridge too. But Nahonsha's porridge was a little disappointing — it's ₩4,000 but the portion is small, and it had frozen vegetables on top...? Because of that they didn't cook through properly, so the carrots ended up a bit hard to eat 🥹 I actually love porridge, but at this price it's tough to enjoy it fully here.

If you order a soda, they give you an ice cup too, which was nice haha. There was even a cute little drawing stuck on it. It totally lifted my mood while eating!

Inside Nahonsha: an interior that suits solo diners and dates

Inside Nahonsha there are window seats, plenty of tables, lots of plant decor, and two-person tables too, so it's a great spot for couples or friends. Eating somewhere pretty just makes the food taste even better, right? >_<

With the 4+4 loyalty card, on your 4th and 8th visits you get a free side dish and a free shabu for one person. There's also deodorizer spray up front, handy to freshen up before you leave.
