Daehak-ro poke restaurant with a smoked duck rice wrap: Sallering
In short
Sallering Daehak-ro is a salad and poke restaurant on Daehak-ro 10-gil in Jongno, Seoul, a short walk from the Arko Arts Theater. The order was a beef brisket bibim poke bowl built on a whole wheat pasta base with gim sesame mayo (seaweed and sesame mayo) dressing, plus a barbecue smoked duck rice wrap, and the wrap's grain rice filling was enough to satisfy with just half of it. Sallering Daehak-ro serves light-sounding food that still works as a full meal.

This is Kazak, who travels for coffee!
When you're watching a show or wandering around Daehak-ro and Hyehwa, sometimes you just want a meal that isn't too heavy. This time I stopped by Sallering Daehak-ro near the Arko Arts Theater. It's mainly built around fresh menu items like salads and poke bowls, but eating it myself, the fullness factor was better than I expected.

Where is Sallering Daehak-ro? Near the Arko Arts Theater
Sallering Daehak-ro sits on the ground floor near the Arko Arts Theater. Even from outside, the green color scheme immediately signals it's a salad and poke place.

I visited in the early evening, and there were still quite a few customers eating in, along with a steady stream of people waiting on takeout orders. Given how many theaters there are around Daehak-ro, this place seemed well suited to people grabbing a light meal before or after a show, or looking for a solo lunch spot in Hyehwa.
Ordering at the kiosk and what's on the Sallering menu

You can order at the kiosk beside the entrance or at the counter. The signature item is the bibim poke bowl, which lets you customize the protein, base, and dressing to your taste.

For the base, you can go vegetable-only or swap in brown rice with barley, whole wheat pasta, or egg garnish. Beside the kiosk there's also a guide to recommended dressings for each menu item, so even on a first visit it wasn't hard to figure out a good combination.
Besides poke bowls, the menu is quite varied — protein pasta, protein rice bowls, slim-pack lunch boxes, salads, soups, and sandwiches. Drinks go beyond the usual options too, with cleanse juices and ades, keeping the whole lineup feeling fresh and light.
What the takeout order looked like
What I ordered at Sallering Daehak-ro was the beef brisket bibim poke and the barbecue dip smoked duck rice wrap.

The poke came in a wide container that made it easy to mix everything together, while the rice wrap was wrapped in paper, cut in half, and packed in a box. The sauce, utensils, and even wet wipes were all neatly included, so the packaging felt thoughtful overall. It was easy to just grab and go, which would work well if you're carrying it after watching a show in Daehak-ro.
Beef brisket bibim poke on a whole wheat pasta base with gim sesame mayo
For the beef brisket bibim poke, I chose the whole wheat pasta base with gim sesame mayo (seaweed sesame mayo) sauce. It was a combination I hadn't tried before, but the familiar savory taste of gim and sesame made it easy to enjoy.

It came generously loaded with beef brisket, mushrooms, egg garnish, crab stick, and vegetables like lettuce and red cabbage.

Salads and poke bowls tend to make you think of a relatively light meal, but with whole wheat pasta and meat added in, the fullness factor was considerable. The flavor direction leaned more Korean than a typical poke bowl too. Thanks to the gim sesame mayo, mixing all the ingredients together felt cohesive rather than mismatched — a good pick for days when you want a hearty serving of vegetables and meat.
Barbecue smoked duck rice wrap, filled with grain rice
The menu item that surprised me a bit was the barbecue dip smoked duck rice wrap.

I'd assumed it would just be smoked duck and vegetables inside a tortilla, but true to its name, it actually had grain rice mixed in inside. That made it far more filling than a typical tortilla wrap. The smoked duck, vegetables, and rice are all held together by a rich barbecue sauce, and the sweet-savory sauce paired quite well with the plain, nutty taste of the grains.
I expected a rice wrap to feel a bit light, but even eating just half of it left me fairly full — a solid option if you're looking for something easy to eat on the go.
A light but filling meal in Daehak-ro: who is it for?
Sallering Daehak-ro centers on salads and poke bowls, but eating there in person, it wasn't a place focused solely on 'light meals.' With protein and vegetables covered, and the option to add bases like brown rice with barley or whole wheat pasta, it was substantial enough to count as a full meal.
Daehak-ro in particular often puts you in an awkward mealtime window before or after a show, and if a heavy menu feels like too much, an option like this works well. It's easy to eat alone too, and the tidy packaging makes it a good fit for a solo lunch in Hyehwa, a meal before or after a performance, or a simple takeout order. Next time, I'd like to try the protein rice bowl or the slim pack.
