It's been a while, so today I'm sharing a story about changing up my hairstyle! This time I finally got the perm and high-layered cut I'd been wanting to try, haha. The place I visited was Ava Hair Dongtan Yeongcheon.

What is the salon and waiting area like at Ava Hair Dongtan Yeongcheon?

The exterior looked so clean I was curious about the inside too! Sure enough, it was a clean, spacious layout, haha. The overall vibe of a salon really matters, right? It had a warm feel that made it comfortable to sit through the whole cut and perm, haha.

I arrived right on time for my appointment, but there was also a comfortable waiting area set up!

They also had various hair products on display and available for purchase ☺️

The perm consultation with head stylist Sia

After a quick look around the salon, I sat down in front of the mirror and told my stylist for the day, Sia, what I wanted, and we went through a consultation!! Beyond the reference photo I brought, she recommended a perm style that suited me even better, so I trusted her and went with it, haha. And since I was also getting the high-layered cut, I was so curious how it would all turn out 😳😳

A high-layered cut focused on the damaged sections

Here's my hair before the service 😥 Frequent perms and dyeing had left a lot of it frizzy and damaged, so the cut focused mainly on those areas (though is it just me who gets a little sad watching my hair keep getting shorter? ㅠㅠ). I wanted layers throughout for a lighter, more voluminous style ☺️

How the wave perm went, plus the drink service

After the cut, while doing a curl test for the perm, they served me an americano and some snacks 🤍🤍 They worked carefully to get the curl I wanted, checking my hair's condition along the way, haha. If you've been wanting to change your hairstyle but weren't sure which perm to get, I'd recommend talking through exactly the look you want during the consultation!!

All curly and bouncy — luckily the curls turned out great, so after that they shampooed my hair and got into applying the perm solution and waiting!!

👏 Stylist Sia's masterpiece! She finished it off with a blow-dry and styling to set the waves. With the extra layers from the cut plus the added waves, the whole style ended up with a lot of movement, haha.

So that's it! Going through the pre-service consultation, the high-layered cut, the wave perm, and finally the styling in order, I ended up with a whole new hairstyle.
