Hair salon in Jung-dong, Busan: reviving limp perm curls at Drapore

My hair had actually been in decent shape lately, but one build perm later I was left with a frizzy, stiff mess. On this Busan trip I'd already done hot springs and body scrubs for the rest of me — the only thing left was my sad, dry hair! So I made the Drapore clinic my final healing stop of the trip.

Where is Drapore Haeundae Jung-dong Branch and how do you get there?

Drapore Haeundae Jung-dong Branch is on the 1st floor of Central Medi Tower, 505 Jwadong-sunhwan-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan, just 1 minute from Exit 7 of Jung-dong Station. It's right next to Haeundae Station, making it a great spot to start or end a day of sightseeing.

The salon is split into two sides — same salon, though which side you get cared for in seems to depend on your booked designer.

Drapore Haeundae Jung-dong also runs a Shiseido clinic and mini spa, so they seem to mainly use Shiseido products — instant trust boost!

The warm yellow lighting and white-toned interior made the whole treatment time feel relaxing.

Prices vary a bit depending on rank — director, team leader, and so on — and cut prices are reasonable too. The Hoyu clinic I got, for long hair length, was ₩100,000, which felt fair.

Before: frizzy, flattened hair after a build perm

Pre-clinic, my hair was basically a rat's nest. I'd actually dyed it a darker color recently trying to be careful with it, but a perm right after that stripped moisture and faded the color — total disaster all around.

Leave-in treatments and good essences or sprays only go so far with home care, so I needed an actual clinic. The Hoyu clinic goes in this order: shampoo, step 1 and step 2 clinic product application, then a finishing treatment mask with scalp massage.

How the Hoyu clinic works, step by step

The Hoyu clinic starts with a shampoo. I'd actually had a gel nail issue with my middle finger nail lifting off, so I hadn't been able to shampoo properly for two days — this thorough, deep shampoo felt amazing. Even just from the shampoo alone, it lathered up nicely and felt soft.

The first step balances the pH of alkalized, damaged hair so it can better absorb the nutrients in the next stage.

It felt like my hair's base was getting stronger, filled with nutrients and cleaner. She applied it thoroughly all over.

They also brought me a drink. An Americano — nice.

Next, a steam machine was used to help absorb the first product. It felt like amino acids, keratin, and lost moisture were all being packed back in.

The next step focuses intensively inside the hair — filling in the care ingredients it needs and giving it elasticity and a smooth, soft texture.

My hair was twisted up so it could properly absorb the clinic treatment, then finished off with the steam machine again.

The final stage is at the shampoo station — a treatment with scalp massage to finish, and that's the end of the clinic. Even just freshly washed, you could already tell the elasticity was back.

My hair had been so damaged the curls basically weren't showing at all, but once the moisture and nutrients were restored, the curls came back naturally and looked dewy — it was honestly amazing to see.

My bangs always look awkward when I style them myself, but with the designer's magic hands — practically a curling iron in human form — the build perm ended up looking natural and pretty.

After: curls bouncing back and dye color revived

The final look after the Hoyu clinic. The side pieces that had been sticking out frizzily settled down calmly, and the curls at the bottom got a healthy bounce back!!

It went from this to this. Maybe because it's a color-care product, but it's like my hair got recoated in color — the shade came back to basically the same level as my original dye job.

Today's Hoyu clinic was done by stylist Yul. The clinic itself was done cleanly and carefully, she was kind, and she gave me care tips too, which really helped. And the finishing blow-dry was done with real care!
