Since I haven't been breaking out lately, I started getting a little greedy about face-contour care! So I originally set out to find an esthetic near Myeongdong known for contouring. I searched broadly, looking around both Gangnam and Myeongdong.

While I was digging around, Beautae Esthetic near City Hall Station caught my eye. It's close to bus stops and not far from Myeongdong at all, so I figured I could stop by for skin care whenever I went to Myeongdong anyway.

Why the director flagged cheek redness during a face-contour consultation

When I went in for the consultation, the director did a thorough face analysis first. I only had contouring in mind, but what she actually pointed out was redness.

I hadn't really thought it was serious before, but once she mentioned it, I could clearly see redness coming up around my cheeks and nose.

On top of that, she told me my skin was quite dry, probably because of this seasonal transition period. Redness and dryness overlapping like that was a bit of a surprise.

That's apparently why it's widely used in physical therapy and skin care for its regenerative effects. In short, 'even a light touch of stimulation on the skin can have a regenerative effect'!

Apparently people who actually work in this industry, if they get a cut on their hand, just hold microcurrent against it! And it heals fast, apparently — kind of scary haha.

On top of that, these current-based devices are said to push ionized active ingredients deep into the skin, boosting absorption.

Compared to just applying ampoule by hand, using a device to drive it in with current lets the ingredients go in deeper.

That's probably why a lot of skin care shops and estheticians use these booster devices together with ampoule instead of just applying the ampoule alone.

Cheek redness after one multi-booster session

Theory is theory, but the actual result mattered most. When the treatment was done and I looked in the mirror, the redness had really calmed down noticeably. The redness on my cheeks was clearly reduced, and my whole face had this glow to it.

I've rarely been this satisfied after just one session. Thanks to the dryness being addressed too, my skin felt a lot more hydrated.
