Where is Mannyeon Dakgangjeong in Jeonju Hanok Village?
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store came highly recommended as a street food spot in Jeonju Hanok Village. My mom and I really love dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken glazed in sweet-spicy sauce) — whenever we travel somewhere, we always try to grab some! I'd heard there was a genuinely delicious dakgangjeong place in Jeonju Hanok Village, so we checked it out, and the bottom line is: totally satisfied ( •̀ ω •́ )✧ It's right on the main street through Jeonju Hanok Village so it was easy to find, and if you're picking up, you can apparently stop briefly right in front of the store haha.
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong prices and flavor choices
The prices felt very reasonable! A large regular dakgangjeong is 28,000 won and a large shrimp dakgangjeong is 33,000 won 👍 I'd heard the portions were generous, and for a large size in the 20,000–30,000 won range, that seems like a good deal haha. There are several flavors too — mild, spicy, soy sauce, fried, or half-and-half, whatever you like~ If it's hard to choose, I recommend half-and-half 😘
How spicy is the spicy dakgangjeong?
I ordered the large dakgangjeong in spicy flavor! For reference, Mannyeon's spicy flavor is just a touch spicier than Shin Ramyun, with cheongyang chili and garlic topping as the kick 👏🏻 It's not overwhelmingly spicy, so I think even people who aren't great with spice could give it a try haha.
We took it back to the guesthouse and opened it up, and the presentation looked so appetizing haha. They say they only fry and sell chicken that's prepped fresh each day — same-day made, same-day sold — and it really did look fresh with no stale-oil smell at all! And best of all, the portion is generous, perfect as a dinner substitute or a late-night/anytime snack ♪(´▽｀) It's enough for a family of four, so it really felt like great value for money.
How the sweet-salty-spicy fresh fruit sauce tasted
The chicken pieces themselves were nice and chunky, with great texture and tenderness~ The sauce is made with fresh fruit like apple and pineapple, so the sweet-and-salty appeal really came through in every bite haha. On top of that, a spicy sauce adds a kick so it never gets tiring — it's seriously addictive, and I kept reaching for more 😍 It was genuinely delicious, so I'd totally recommend it to anyone looking for street food in Jeonju Hanok Village! I think pretty much everyone would love it~~
How much was left after two people, and how was it the next day?
Since it was just me and my mom eating, there was bound to be leftovers given the portion size, and it was still delicious the next day haha. Even after it cooled down, it tasted just as good, so we happily snacked on it all day 😉 The shop had a sign saying it tastes even better once it's cooled — and there was good reason for the owner's confident claim! I had no idea there was such a great dakgangjeong spot in Jeonju Hanok Village, and if I travel to Jeonju again, I'll definitely stop by to buy some more, hehe.
The free sotteok-sotteok from the review event
On top of everything, if you take part in the review event, they give you free sotteok-sotteok (rice cake and sausage skewer)! They brushed on plenty of sauce, and it was a delicious sotteok-sotteok, great to enjoy alongside a Jeonju Hanok Village snack haha. Dakgangjeong alone would've been satisfying enough, but getting free sotteok-sotteok on top made for a really hearty meal — the best 😆
Mannyeon Dakgangjeong Hanok Village Direct Store was a delicious find for street food in Jeonju Hanok Village. It's great hot and fresh, but it's also just as good cold with no lingering odor, which makes it a solid choice for a Jeonju Hanok Village snack haha. Even my mom, who's picky about dakgangjeong, gave it a thumbs up — a true Jeonju dakgangjeong favorite!
