There's a place near Yangjeong Station that's been getting popular lately, so I went to check it out myself! It's Jirisan Kkul Tong Galbi Yangjeong Branch, and I heard it nails both value and taste, so I was pretty excited before even walking in.

How close is it to Yangjeong Station? What about parking?

Jirisan Kkul Tong Galbi is located right in front of Yangjeong Station, so it's super easy to get to! There's no dedicated parking, but I parked in the alley in front of the restaurant and ate there.

I visited on a weekday late evening and there were still quite a few customers eating! I imagine on a weekend evening the place would be packed. That's how good the value is at this Yangjeong Station spot.

Menu and prices — you can mix and match for a 600g order

Menu board at Jirisan Kkul Tong Galbi Yangjeong Branch

Here's the menu at Jirisan Kkul Tong Galbi. The first order starts at 600g, and additional orders come in 200g increments! You don't have to stick to a single menu item — they said you can mix items to reach 600g, so I ordered 2 servings of honey marinated ribs at ₩3,900/100g and 4 servings of raw pork ribs at ₩4,900/100g. For the meal course, I ordered gochujang (red chili paste) stew for ₩4,900 and ate it with rice.

Drink menu listing various highballs

There was also quite a variety of highballs to go with the ribs for a refreshing sweet pairing! And the highballs were also.. really cheap. Every single menu item at Jirisan Kkul Tong Galbi is very affordable, but the meat quality and overall taste are so good — I really recommend this Yangjeong spot!

What banchan do you get?

They prepared shredded green onion, pickled onion, and white kimchi (baek-kimchi) to eat alongside the raw pork ribs. If you run out, you can grab more from the self-serve bar! Every single banchan was so tasty.

The green onion kimchi (pa-kimchi) here was honestly amazing. I feel like the combo of Chapagetti (instant black bean noodles) + pa-kimchi would be unreal. It had zero sourness, just pure savory flavor — I was so happy T.T

Raw pork ribs with an even fat ratio

Our order of 4 servings of raw ribs and 2 servings of marinated ribs arrived. You could tell just from the color that the meat would be good — the fat ratio was perfect, and being raw ribs, the quality was really excellent! I genuinely don't know how they pull this off at this price T.T Visiting Jirisan Kkul Tong Galbi near Yangjeong Station, I felt like no one who comes here comes just once — there must be a lot of loyal regulars. That's how satisfying this Yangjeong Station spot is.

Raw ribs grilling together with white kimchi

First up, the 4 servings of raw pork ribs we ordered. Since these aren't marinated, it's a menu item where you can really taste the meat itself. Placing them on the grill and cooking until golden brown. Grilling them together with the white kimchi is great — the tanginess of the kimchi mellows out and the cabbage gets softer, making it even tastier!

With raw ribs, I think it's best not to overcook them too much — grilling them just right keeps the juices in, which makes them more delicious. It's great to eat a piece on its own, or wrapped with lettuce and other extras.. I love a good wrap.

Best of all, eating the raw ribs before the marinated ribs meant I could enjoy the meat's natural flavor first.

Raw rib and chili mix over white rice

It's genuinely so good.. Putting a piece of raw rib on top of white rice with a big scoop of chili paste mix (gochu-daemji) is the best way to eat it.

Gochujang stew instead of the usual doenjang stew

The gochujang stew we ordered arrived too! It leans sweet, so I added a good amount of spicy chili mix to give it a bit more kick. There's garlic and chili at the self-serve bar too, so you can adjust it to your taste.

There was a lot of rib meat inside the gochujang stew too, so it was fun fishing pieces out! Most pork rib restaurants serve doenjang stew, so having gochujang stew here was a nice change of pace.

The honey marinated ribs come after a grill change

Once you finish the raw ribs, just ask them to switch out the grill! The marinated ribs need to be cooked on a different grill from the raw ribs. The honey marinated ribs had the sauce soaked deep into the meat, giving them a richer, sweeter flavor. Personally, the meat is great on its own, but it pairs even better with rice, so I'd recommend it as a meal item too.

The raw ribs were great for enjoying the meat's clean, natural flavor, while the honey marinated ribs were sweet and salty and paired well with rice. Switching between the two, each had its own clear charm — a very satisfying meal. If you're looking for a good BBQ restaurant near Yangjeong Station, or a rib place or a good-value spot around Yangjeong Station, this is one I'd recommend to anyone who loves ribs.
