Busanjin curry restaurant, Moru Sikdang's second branch: Sarugak20
In short
Sarugak20 is a Japanese curry restaurant in Busanjin, Busan, run by the owner of the once-famous Moru Sikdang curry spot in Jeonpo. After a stop at the Busan Chamber of Commerce, the writer had lunch there with half-and-half curry, Sarugak curry, and sweet potato cheese croquettes, tasting the shrimp cream curry and crispy tonkatsu topping. If it's your first time at Moru Sikdang or Sarugak20, the half-and-half curry, which lets you try both signature curries at once, is the top recommendation.

Sarugak20
That day I stopped by the Busan Chamber of Commerce and then went for lunch at Sarugak20, a Jeonpo favorite. I visited without realizing it, but it turns out this is the second branch run by the owner of Moru Sikdang, which used to be THE curry spot in Jeonpo-dong! I personally loved Moru Sikdang so much 🥹 so I got excited knowing I could have that half-and-half curry again ♡

Sarugak20 location — 5 minutes from Jeonpo Station Exit 8
Sarugak20 is about a 5-minute walk from Jeonpo Station Exit 8. It's also just 17 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by car from the Busan Chamber of Commerce, so it was convenient to get to!

Head down to the basement under the door with the monkey sign and the restaurant appears!

What's different from Moru Sikdang — a bigger basement space and solo-friendly seats
Inside Sarugak20 The interior felt clean and cozy ..🪽 The space matched the aesthetic-café-and-goods-shop vibe that Jeonpo-dong is known for, haha. When I used to visit Moru Sikdang, the attic-like space was small and mostly floor seating, which was a bit uncomfortable. Here the space is quite roomy, with a good mix of floor and standard tables, plus cute round tables and bar seating, so it looked like a comfortable place for solo diners too.

The entrance area is charmingly decorated with little items and postcards for extra mood +1 🤍

Sarugak20 menu and add-on options
The menu at Sarugak20. It felt almost identical to the Moru Sikdang menu!! Being a curry specialty restaurant, there was a wide variety of curries, plus add-on options like scrambled egg, poached egg, and sausage, so it was easy to mix and match. + There's also a review event running right now ♡

Half-and-half curry - ₩10,000 Sarugak curry - ₩12,000 Sweet potato cheese croquette (2pc) - ₩3,500 All the dishes came out not long after ordering! I ordered the two curries I used to have at Moru Sikdang — half-and-half curry and Sarugak curry. I also got sweet potato cheese croquettes as a side 😎

Diced radish kimchi (kkakdugi) is also provided, for us Koreans who need kimchi, haha.

Half-and-half curry — shrimp cream curry + special curry
First up, the half-and-half curry I ordered. The half-and-half curry is Sarugak20's signature menu, split evenly between shrimp cream curry and special curry. Being able to taste both in one dish makes it personally my favorite menu, haha.

The special curry — a combo of deep, rich beef curry and cheese — was genuinely delicious too, but I personally really, really love the shrimp cream curry ..♡ It's a bit creamy and smooth, and blends so well with the curry's distinctive flavor that it's just so good 🥹

Sarugak curry — with tonkatsu and cabbage topping
Next up, the Sarugak curry! Sarugak curry has a deep, rich curry flavor topped with tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and cabbage. I stole a bite and it had a familiar yet rich flavor that was so good!

And this tonkatsu topping was so good ,, completely crispy. For reference, with one order per person, rice and curry refills are available, so ask for a refill if you're still hungry 🤩

Side dish: sweet potato cheese croquettes
The sweet potato cheese croquettes I ordered as a side. They're packed with sweet potato mousse inside, and the cheese + sweet potato + crispy batter combo is just so good — I recommend this one too!

Cola - ₩2,500 And a cola to wash it all down, haha.
Overall thoughts
Sarugak20 — a Busanjin lunch spot run by the Moru Sikdang owner. It used to be a Japanese curry restaurant I really loved, and to think I got to come back through this second branch ..♡ If it's your first time at Moru Sikdang or Sarugak20, I'd most recommend the half-and-half curry, which lets you try both signature curries. The shrimp cream curry especially is so, so good, so everyone should definitely try it ...🤍 For anyone looking for a Busanjin lunch spot with great Japanese curry, I recommend Sarugak20!
