Today I'm introducing a place I genuinely visit all the time as a local resident — a spot loved by everyone from kids to grandparents, a Daemyeong-dong favorite in Daegu: 'Cafe Dongi Daemyeong Station Branch'!
Two adults and two kids, the whole family went out, ate until we were stuffed, and here's the real, detailed review!

Location and how to get there

Ever since I discovered this place, no other option catches my eye when I'm looking for a healing, comforting Apsan-area Korean meal course. It's packed with fresh ingredients and genuine care, so it's no exaggeration to call it a top Daemyeong-dong Korean restaurant — always a hit with nearby office workers and families alike. It was also selected as Naver's Best Ordering Business of the Year in 2020, so you can eat here with even more confidence.

The interior is a clean white-and-wood combo. There's a group table in the center, and a bar table by the window that's great for solo dining. There's also a separate sink inside the store, so it was convenient to wash hands before eating — a detail I really appreciated.

What our family of four ordered
With two adults and two kids, we ordered generously so we could taste a bit of everything. Here's what we got this time!

- [Solo Brazier] Spicy Pork Set — special deal event
- [Solo Brazier] Stir-Fried Octopus Set
- Dongi Charcoal-Grilled Bulgogi Table
- Kimchi Pancake

We ordered a wide range from mains to sides, so everyone in the family could taste something to their liking. It made for a really generous spread :)

Why I became a regular: the Cafe Dongi story
The reason I love this place so much is that the taste and the price are both great, but the owner and staff are genuinely angelic in how kind they are. As it turns out, Cafe Dongi started 12 years ago (2012) as a small handmade solid-wood furniture shop. Back then, lacking both experience and knowledge, they nearly went under — couldn't even pay rent — but they called their sibling, a former hotel chef, for help and completely reinvented themselves.
We share happiness with our neighbors through a more valuable meal / Thinking only of customer satisfaction, without regard for profit, let's give customers the tastiest, most generous food we can.
That's the mindset they started with, and it's what brought them to where they are today. Maybe that's why, every time I visit, I can feel the genuine care in how they treat guests. Their founding motto — to be 'not a restaurant that 100 people visit once, but one that 1 person visits 100 times' — is something they've stuck to ever since. As a regular, it's honestly moving.

There's a free self-serve corner in the store with fried egg, five-grain rice, and crispy, savory barley candy — I'm seriously satisfied by this.

(The barley candy is honestly so good, haha)

[Solo Brazier] Spicy Pork Set (special deal event)
A premium set meal featuring sizzling charcoal-grilled spicy pork stir-fry served on an individual brazier, hearty doenjang stew, and a seasonal drink for dessert!

Since it comes on a brazier and stays warm the whole time you eat, the flavor comes alive twice as much. The rice is made with grade-1 rice grown in the pristine DMZ area of Gimpo, so the rice itself tastes noticeably different.
Getting such a hearty meal for a price in the ₩10,000-range is such a lovable deal in today's prices.

Dongi Charcoal-Grilled Pork Bulgogi Table
A hearty, great-value Cafe Dongi signature and my personal favorite menu! It's a sweet-and-savory pork soy sauce bulgogi with fresh ingredients and a strong charred flavor, so I always order it whenever I come. It's a hit with kids too, so I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty Daemyeong-dong restaurant.

Kimchi pancake added as a side
And this time I couldn't resist adding kimchi pancake as a side! Crispy outside, moist inside, with the distinctive savory kick of kimchi exploding through — it was fantastic paired with the stew and bulgogi. From now on, I'm definitely adding kimchi pancake as a fixed order every time, haha.

[Solo Brazier] Grandma's Stir-Fried Octopus Set

They said it's made exactly like the warm recipe their grandmother used to cook in the countryside, and it really was outstanding — spicy-sweet with a springy, bouncy texture that instantly perks up your appetite!

This is a lemonade I got from participating in the receipt review event, and the refreshing tang was no joke — drinking it right after the spicy octopus and bulgogi felt like a complete palate refresh!

This was our first time trying the grandma's stir-fried octopus set, and it was a huge success — combined with the pork bulgogi table that our kid loves so much, plus all the side dishes, it felt like a truly complete table, hearty just to look at! If you're looking for a good spot around here, you'll understand exactly why everyone recommends this Daemyeong-dong restaurant in Daegu the moment you take a bite.

Finished it off cleanly with a seasonal drink~
