Busan ocean-view café with Dalbodeure dessert box: Suwolgyeonghwa

The day I went to Suwolgyeonghwa by Songjeong Beach

Songjeong has been so hot lately that it feels like a must-do on a Busan trip!! Along with quieter Songjeong Beach, compared with Haeundae or Gwangalli, lots of large cafés and good restaurants have popped up (ㆁωㆁ*) I went to an ocean-view café at Songjeong Beach with my mom and dad, partly for a little date together. It was even prettier than I expected, so I had to leave a post haha.

Suwolgyeonghwa is right in front of Songjeong Beach! About 10 cars can park on the building’s first floor, and if it is full, you can use the public parking lot directly opposite. The downside: it is paid parking...

Outside the café

The Suwolgyeonghwa building!! Suwolgyeonghwa occupies the third and fourth floors. The building has such a South-of-France seaside feel haha. You do have to walk upstairs to reach the café, but there are fewer stairs than you would think, and you start wondering, “Is this the right place?” It feels like you are heading up to a secret room lol.

Suwolgyeonghwa tea and fourth-floor ocean-view seats

Suwolgyeonghwa is known for its tea, and you can choose from 10 kinds. You can open the lids in the photo and smell them, and every tea is available HOT or ICED. Since I know nothing about tea, I chose the award-winning Hyeonwol Hoji. My mom and dad picked Americanos because they wanted something to help them digest!

The bottom of the menu explains the caffeine level, base, and aroma notes in detail, so you can choose according to your taste!

Inside Suwolgyeonghwa’s fourth floor. Plenty of tourists were already there taking in the ocean view. The hanok-inspired feel was done really well, and maybe that is why the space felt even more refreshing. There were six window seats and one large table in the middle! The window seats were popular because they give you the real ocean view haha. Of course, my parents and I grabbed a window seat too ٩(๑´0`๑)۶

My mom and dad looking over the menu lol SO CUTE. The menu itself is really unusual too. Everything from coffee and traditional tea to tarak tea (milk tea) and desserts is gathered into this Korean-style menu!

Songjeong Beach seen from the window seat. The tourist train passes right in front of you lol. This really seems like a great café for zoning out while watching the sea. Who would look at this scene and think it was Korea ㅠㅠㅠ It kind of has such a strong Nice, France vibe too.

Tasting the Dalbodeure box and Hyeonwol Hoji

The menu we chose was the Dalbodeure box haha. The second it arrived, it was so pretty that I literally covered my mouth. It included a gamtae (seaweed) and myeongran (pollock roe) financier, whole red-bean ang-butter monaka, ganache monaka, black-rice sulppa, and an injeolmi (roasted soybean rice cake) skewer. Such a beautifully blended East-meets-West spread... It was so pretty that I almost hated to take a bite lol.

One more shot because it is pretty! This would earn you serious points with your girlfriend on a date. Eat with your eyes, then with your mouth ෆ˙ᵕ˙ෆ Even my mom and dad, who do not really like sweets, said it was delicious because it was not overly sweet. A flavor adults would absolutely enjoy too!! The gamtae financier and monaka were seriously good lol.

And the Hyeonwol Hoji tea I ordered! They told me the tea leaves placed on top of the cup were only for smelling, not eating. The aroma was wonderfully deep and nutty. It was delicious and well brewed even though it was iced (ㆁωㆁ*)

A tea that expresses something new within familiar flavors: roasted green tea with a savory, smoky aroma; brown rice with another layer of deep grain-like nuttiness; and dark brown sugar with a rich, lingering sweetness, all wrapping the palate in a gently sweet, approachable flavor.

We ate on the fourth floor, but it looked like you could eat on the third floor too. There was a spacious area where you could take off your shoes!

My overall take on Suwolgyeonghwa

• A perfect ocean view
• Desserts that harmoniously blend East and West
• Perfect plating
• Not overly sweet; I think everyone, young and old, would like it
• I think an international friend would absolutely love it

It is a café where you can enjoy a perfect ocean view, so my mom and dad were really happy too! It is like enjoying Eastern and Western flavors in a serene hanok. Every dessert was so pretty, making it a wonderful place for a date ෆ˙ᵕ˙ෆ A café I would want to recommend to a friend visiting Songjeong! When I want to zone out watching the sea, I would love to walk here for some exercise and sit for hours haha.
