Haeundae café for cortado and pastries: Low & Sweet Bakery

Apparently, there is also a place called Haeridan-gil in Haeundae, Busan. I had heard about it before and wanted to visit, but the timing never worked out. This time, while I was in Busan on a business trip, I ended up in Haeundae and wondered where to go—then decided on a café in Haeridan-gil and stopped by Low & Sweet Bakery.

It was pretty from the outside. The space was atmospheric enough that even international visitors were taking photos in front of the café. It felt as though I had stepped into a café somewhere in New York.

I had heard it was known for salt bread and egg tarts, so I came for coffee and baked goods in place of lunch.

What are the indoor and outdoor seats like?

The inside was decorated just as beautifully as the exterior. You could really see the care that had gone into the interior.

I had been curious about cafés on Haeridan-gil, and I found a good one.

The staff were kind, and I liked the space too. I also had a brief chat with them, and it was nice to feel how sincerely they care about coffee and baking.

There was a separate outdoor area as well. Someone was reading a book there, and it looked wonderful—reading in such a lovely atmosphere.

Bakery and drink menu prices

There was a wide variety of baked goods. Even while I was there, the display started being replenished with freshly made bread.

Sadly, the salt bread I wanted was not available, so I ordered a different bakery combination.

As you would expect from a place serious about coffee, there is a signature lineup including cortado, latte, and vanilla bean latte :)

This time, I ordered a cortado, croissant, fig financier, and egg tart.

The appeal of a New York-style cortado

I had never seen a cortado on a menu before, so since I was in Haeridan-gil and wanted something distinctive, I listened to the explanation and ordered one.

It is a drink that is easy to find in New York: a rich milk coffee made with equal parts espresso and milk. It was a cup where the espresso flavor and the softness of milk came together in a lovely balance :)

Every baked item I ordered was delicious. This is not a café people call one of Haeundae's best bakeries for nothing 🥐

A flaky croissant and rich egg tart

The croissant was baked beautifully crisp on the outside, and with each bite I could feel the distinct layers that make a croissant so special.

The egg tart was also a lovely dessert, with rich custard filling and crisp pastry working well together.

A financier with a deep fig aroma

I usually like financiers, and I was happy with this one because the fig flavor came through strongly. It is a dessert where the nutty richness of butter meets the aroma of figs.

A bakery café worth seeking out in Haeundae

If you are in Haeundae, Busan, and looking for a bakery café, Low & Sweet Bakery would be a great choice. The baked goods are well made, the café is serious about coffee, the staff are kind, the atmosphere is lovely, and the food tastes good—plenty of reasons to visit.
