A hearty Korean lunch found on a Gijang drive
I took a little drive out to Gijang, Busan recently, and I was craving a hearty, neatly prepared Korean meal. While looking around, I visited Dongam Tteokgalbi, which had great ratings and a reputation for being clean.

It is close to both Haedong Yonggungsa Temple and Lotte Outlet Gijang, so it was absolutely perfect for fitting into an itinerary before or after shopping, or while traveling. Let me tell you about my visit for lunch at this Gijang restaurant!

How were the parking and spacious seats?
When I arrived, even the building exterior looked very clean, pleasant, and well kept. Parking was convenient too, so there was no burden at all in coming by car. Inside, the space was large and the seating was generous; it looked popular for family gatherings and dates alike.

A table setting with basic side dishes and pot rice
I liked that ordering here comes with hearty pot rice and basic side dishes. After taking a seat, choosing from the menu, and waiting a little, the neatly arranged table began to arrive.

Freshly cooked pot rice and nurungji
First, the steaming pot rice really caught my eye. I scooped the rice into a bowl and poured water into the pot to make nurungji (scorched rice tea); just looking at it made me feel comforted inside. If you are looking for pot rice near Lotte Outlet Gijang, you will definitely love the appeal of this freshly cooked rice.

Just one trip to the self-serve bar was enough to make me feel full.

Hot-plate tteokgalbi that stayed warm
The tteokgalbi (Korean grilled minced meat patties), the main dish, looked beautifully browned and so appetizing. It arrived warm on a hot plate, so I could enjoy it deliciously without it getting cold, right down to the last piece. One bite released a mouthful of juices, and the tteokgalbi was wonderfully tender.

Because it came freshly cooked and warm, it did not cool down during the meal, and I could enjoy every last piece at its best temperature and texture. With each bite, rich juices burst throughout my mouth and the meat was tender to chew. The seasoning was neither overly sweet nor salty, but clean and full of savory flavor—a taste everyone, young or old, could enjoy.
The basic banchan (Korean side dishes) served alongside it were very well put together too. From neatly arranged seasoned vegetables to a refreshing salad and appetite-awakening dishes, every item felt carefully made. They were not too heavily seasoned, so their clean flavors paired beautifully with the tteokgalbi.

Adding a savory soup dish here and there completed the perfect Korean meal that any Korean person would be bound to love. If you are looking for a Korean restaurant near Haedong Yonggungsa Temple where you can enjoy a proper local-style spread around Gijang, this would be a choice you will not regret.

The staff welcomed me kindly, and I was pleased with both the cleanliness of the dining room and its overall atmosphere, so I would like to return whenever I am in Gijang again. The outside was lightly crisp while the inside stayed moist and perfectly cooked, with so much juice still intact. It was delicious on its own, but placing a piece of tteokgalbi right on top of the warm pot rice made it the ultimate rice thief.

If you would like a hearty lunch of neatly prepared pot rice and delicious tteokgalbi near Haedong Yonggungsa Temple or Lotte Outlet Gijang, I definitely recommend stopping by Dongam Tteokgalbi at least once!
