Jeonpo-dong curry restaurant for a pre-shopping lunch: Sarugak20
In short
Sarugak20 is a curry restaurant in Jeonpo-dong, Busanjin-gu, Busan, located in the basement at 78 Seojeon-ro 68beon-gil and run as the second branch of Moru Sikdang. Before shopping around Jeonpo, the writer and a friend ordered the half-and-half curry for 10,000 won, the special curry for 12,000 won and grapefruit juice for 2,500 won, finding the cream curry mild and smooth and the special curry rich with cheese, poached egg and sausage. Sarugak20 has no parking lot of its own, so they parked at the Gwangmyeong parking lot (1,500 won per 30 minutes), but the flavour, portions and service all made the visit worth it.

I've been going to Jeonpo a lot lately haha. Yesterday my friend needed to buy some clothes there again. Since I get lightheaded shopping on an empty stomach, we made sure to eat lunch first ^^ㅋ I was craving curry after a while, so we headed to Sarugak20, a well-known curry spot in Jeonpo, Busan.
This place is the second branch of Moru Sikdang, and it's a curry restaurant I've loved since my early twenties. Time to review the curry that's kept its reputation all these years >_<

Where is Sarugak20, and what are its hours and parking options?

Inside Sarugak20 in Jeonpo-dong: solo seats and group tables
Here's the inside of Sarugak20, a restaurant in Jeonpo-dong. There are floor-seating tables as well as standard tables ㅎㅅㅎ

Sarugak20, a curry spot in Jeonpo-dong, Busan, even has a single-person table by the sunny window, so it looked great for solo dining too~

There's also group seating for 6 or more, so it'd make a good meetup spot in Jeonpo-dong~

Sarugak20 has a sink where you can wash your hands before eating ㅎㅅㅎ There's even hand cream sitting there. Nice touch from the owner ~>_< My eczema's been acting up lately so I tried a bit ㅎㅎ I'm not even a housewife but I keep getting 'housewife's eczema' somehow ^^ㅋ

Sarugak20, a curry restaurant in Jeonpo, Busan, has some tastefully chosen framed art on the walls, so it seems like a lot of thought went into the interior.

They also sell little items like bags and t-shirts separately, so I had a look around.

The handmade-looking bracelets and rings were pretty. I used to do bead crafting back in the day, so it brought back memories ㅎㅅㅎ

Sarugak20 menu and what we ordered
Here's the menu at Sarugak20, a restaurant in Jeonpo-dong. We ordered half-and-half curry, special curry, and a glass of grapefruit juice~

They also sell frozen curry for takeaway~ seems good for making at home. And apparently every menu item can be packed as a boxed lunch to go.

Green tea, citrus tea and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) at Sarugak20
There was something I found really impressive at Sarugak20, a curry restaurant in Jeonpo, Busan. They had green tea and something like lime or cheongyul (unripe citron) tea set out together. Just the fact that it wasn't plain water already felt thoughtful, and preparing both green tea and a citrusy tea with guests' preferences in mind felt like a really considerate touch.
For a side dish, we got a plate of kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi). Curry and kkakdugi are a match made in heaven, right?

Half-and-half curry, 10,000 won: cream curry first, signature curry after
Ta-da, our food came out quickly ㅎㅎ Half-and-half curry ₩10,000, special curry ₩12,000, grapefruit juice ₩2,500.

First, my friend's half-and-half curry. You could call it Sarugak20's signature dish — one side is cream curry, the other is special curry, so you can enjoy two flavors at once~

I took a quick bite. It was creamy and smooth, exactly my type of cream curry~ There was a slight kick of spice too, so even though it's a cream curry, it wasn't heavy or greasy at all.

The special curry has a stronger flavor than the cream curry, so I'd recommend eating the cream curry first, then moving on to the special curry ㅎㅅㅎ

Special curry, 12,000 won: poached egg, sausage and snow cheese
Next up, the special curry I ordered. Topped with a soft-boiled poached egg, sausage, and cheese — truly special, as the name says, so I had high expectations for this one ㅎㅎ

The special curry is Sarugak20's regular curry with cheese sprinkled generously on top. It has ground meat mixed in for a nice bite, and the flavor was spicy, rich, and deep~ I love snow cheese sprinkled on curry, so this was exactly my style >_<

Curry and sausage together — do I even need to say it ㅎㅅㅎ Sausage with melted snow cheese on top, eaten together with the curry, is an absolute feast for the taste buds.

The poached egg was cooked to a perfect soft-boiled consistency too~ The combination of soft yolk and rich curry needs no explanation ㅎㅎ It danced smoothly in my mouth.

Why the 2,500-won grapefruit juice is worth adding
We also ordered a glass of grapefruit juice. The refreshingly tart grapefruit juice cleared away the curry aftertaste perfectly~ At just ₩2,500, it exceeded my expectations. If you're wondering what to drink, I recommend the grapefruit juice.
Sarugak20 on a return visit: is it still worth it?
I revisited after a while, and it was still delicious, and the owner was as kind as ever, making it a really pleasant meal ㅎㅅㅎ You can also get free refills on curry and rice if you want more. In terms of taste, portion size, and service, this place has no weak points, so I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Jeonpo >_<
