Lunch shashlik and cheese fried rice at Shashlik Jinhae Branch
In short
Shashlik Jinhae Branch is a Western-style restaurant and bar in Seokdong, Jinhae-gu, Changwon, Gyeongnam, that recently started serving lunch. Three of us visited at 12:30pm for the Special Shashlik, tomato cheese pasta, and the smoky cheese fried rice cooked in the leftover pan, playing free board games while we waited. The spacious dining room with big windows and pet-friendly seating made it a great spot for a relaxed lunch.

I heard Shashlik Jinhae Branch (샤슬릭 진해점) recently started opening for lunch, so I went to check it out. I always figured this place, which also runs as a bar, would have a great vibe in the evening — but visiting during the day, the space was spacious and clean, with sunlight pouring in through the big windows, and both the atmosphere and menu worked just as well for lunch. Here's my review!

The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the building, with a parking lot right nearby, so it wasn't much trouble to visit by car.

What's the vibe like at lunchtime?
We arrived around 12:30pm. Since they'd only just started serving lunch, there was no wait at all, and we were actually the first customers that lunch service.

Once inside, the space is bigger than I expected. It's clean and put-together overall, with a separate bar area, so I imagine the lunch and dinner vibes are completely different. During the day it was comfortable for a relaxed meal, and in the evening it looked like a great spot for a date with drinks or hanging out with friends.

There were also plenty of photo-worthy spots around the restaurant, which made it fun to look around. And it's pet-friendly too, so if you've been searching for a dog-friendly restaurant in Jinhae, that's a plus!
A round of board games while we waited
One fun thing here was that they have board games set up. You can use them for free while your food is being prepared, so my sibling's spouse and I immediately started a little competition, haha.

With the three of us playing, the wait for the food didn't feel long at all.
If you're out looking for a lunch spot in Jinhae with friends, having something like this makes it easy to hang out a little longer before or after the meal.

Special Shashlik ₩25,000
And the dish I was most excited for that day — the Special Shashlik! Meat, pineapple, onion, mushrooms and more all came out piled generously in one pan. What I especially liked was that it's fully cooked in the kitchen, not grilled at the table.

No need to worry about grilling it yourself — you just dig in while it's hot. The meat was well seasoned already, so it was plenty tasty on its own without sauce, and dipping it in the sauce partway through gave it a whole different flavor.

Eating the grilled pineapple or vegetables together with the meat was also a great combo. Out of everything the three of us ate, the Special Shashlik was definitely the best of the day!
Tomato cheese pasta ₩16,000
It felt like a waste to just eat meat, so we also ordered the tomato cheese pasta.

There was plenty of tomato sauce, so the tanginess really came through, and it was topped with a generous amount of cheese, so the bright tomato flavor paired well with the savory richness of the cheese. Having pasta alongside the meat dishes made the meal feel much more varied. That's why I'd recommend this as a Western-style restaurant in Jinhae worth trying if you want meat and pasta together, rather than a typical Korean BBQ spot.
Smoky cheese fried rice ₩5,000
Once you finish the Special Shashlik, you can order fried rice made in the leftover pan.

Definitely try this at the very end. They fry it up using the leftover seasoning from the shashlik plus a savory sauce, so the sauce soaks into every grain of rice, and with cheese melted on top, it made the perfect finish to the meal. Along with the Special Shashlik, this fried rice was what stuck with me most that day. Even though I was already pretty full from the shashlik, my spoon kept going back for more, haha.
My lunch visit review of Shashlik Jinhae Branch
I assumed this was a mainly dinner-focused spot, but visiting for lunch, the restaurant was spacious and quiet, making for a relaxed meal. The Special Shashlik in particular comes fully cooked, so it's easy to enjoy, and after the meat and grilled vegetables, there's the fried rice to finish it off! It's a great lunch spot for family or friends, and since the evening atmosphere is probably completely different, I'd love to come back for a dinner date or a get-together with friends next time.
With free board games and pet-friendly seating, this place would suit anyone looking for a dog-friendly restaurant in Jinhae, a slightly different lunch spot in Seokdong, or somewhere to linger and chat with friends over a meal.
