Gwangalli bar for solo drinking by the window: Ganppa Beer Gwangalli 2
In short
Ganppa Beer Gwangalli 2 is a Sapporo collaboration standing bar in front of Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan. The writer stopped by for a second round after dinner, drinking Sapporo draft beer and Osaka chicken at a window-side solo table surrounded by pens, notebooks, and an izakaya-style rock-paper-scissors event for tapping a new keg. It's a great pick in Gwangalli for solo drinking or a quick beer.

I went to Ganppa Beer, a Sapporo collaboration spot in Gwangalli. It was super popular when it first opened so it was hard to get in, but there's a second location too, so I checked it out!
I'd just had meat for round one and was full, wondering where to go for round two — this place was perfect for a simple beer. It's a standing bar like the ones you sometimes find in Japan, which felt novel since I'd never seen that in Busan, and the beer was great too. Somehow standing up made me feel like everything I'd eaten before was digesting better, you know that feeling?
It's also decent for solo drinking in Gwangalli, so for anyone looking for a solo-drinking spot in Gwangalli, here's my story about Ganppa Beer.

It's open pretty late, so if you suddenly crave a beer at night, you can head straight over.

Ganppa Beer is located near the far end of Gwangalli Beach's main stretch. The entrance is hip enough that it's easy to spot.

There are outdoor seats too, which is nice — especially perfect for weather like this.
Menu and draft beer options

There are set menus too, so it's decent value. There are only two draft beers, but both are popular in Japan and Korea: Ebisu and Sapporo.
We debated between ramen and chicken, but since we'd already eaten, we went with chicken. Honestly all the other menu items looked good too — especially the authentic Japanese Napolitan pasta, which I'm curious about and want to try next time.

Interior vibe good for solo drinking

The atmosphere is great for solo drinking, and there's even a window-side table made for drinking alone — no wonder it's known as a solo-drinking spot in Gwangalli.

Even the tables look Japanese haha. It felt like a brief trip abroad, and honestly that moment made me so happy.

I went on a Monday around 9pm, and clearly being a hot spot, it was packed. Then again, weekdays are actually better for a casual beer bar like this.

Looks like when it gets even busier, they pour beers here and pass them outside.

Next time I want to drink alone in Gwangalli, I'm coming back here haha.

It's an open kitchen too, so watching the staff work is fun.
Honest review: Sapporo draft beer and Osaka chicken

Every table has a pen and notebook, so it's nice to jot down memories, just like when you're traveling.

So cute, right?

Insane visuals — the foam looks so smooth and dense. The ratio of foam to beer is just perfect ㅠ

So glossy... isn't this just Japan?

You know the glass matters when drinking beer, right? The glass here was really thin, which made drinking even more enjoyable.

The Osaka chicken arrived with visuals just like what I've eaten in Japan.

Wait, what is this cabbage sauce, why is it so good? The combination of chicken and cabbage is truly the best.

The chicken isn't super crispy-crunchy style — you know that chewy, thin, crispy taste from Japanese izakayas? It's exactly that, and it's seriously delicious.

Even the inside is all thigh meat, so it's super moist, and it pairs so well with the crispy coating ㅠㅠ

It's marinated in tare sauce so the seasoning is nicely salty, and the fried part gets even chewier — you just keep eating it.

And if you dip it in the mayonnaise that comes with it, it's so savory and the flavor is insane.

Eat it together with the cabbage like this? It just disappears endlessly.
Rock-paper-scissors event when tapping a new keg
Suddenly a staff member rang a bell and announced they were tapping a new Sapporo keg, then started a rock-paper-scissors event. If you beat the staff member, you get a free glass of Sapporo draft. It was such a cute and fun event haha.
That's my story of Ganppa Beer Gwangalli 2, a great Gwangalli bar to visit for solo drinking or whenever you're craving a beer.
