I visited Extra Mile, a new Western-style restaurant in Gwangalli, Busan. It's a new spot from the team behind Free Will Pizza and Pickles, already famous in Busan for pizza, so as a pizza lover I was pretty excited haha 😊

Where is Extra Mile, and where do you park?

Extra Mile is a 6-minute walk from Gwangalli Beach and a 7-minute walk from Gwangan Station. Like most restaurants and cafés in Gwangalli, there's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby paid lot. I visited on a weekday and got lucky — there was space right by the wall in front of the shop 🍀

Inside Extra Mile: ivory-and-beige interior and pizza bar seats

The moment I walked in, it hit exactly my taste — I ended up taking a ton of photos. A warm space in the ivory and beige tones I love!

The place was bigger than I expected, with plenty of seats. Tables run along sofa seating against the wall, and I thought the space was used really well.

The plants scattered around seem to add to the mood even more. It's got such a good atmosphere I'd recommend it for a date or a first meeting 🍷 Bring someone here and you definitely won't lose points for restaurant choice.

The Classic Combo at Extra Mile: ₩2,000 less than à la carte

Extra Mile's main menu is pizza and pasta, so the range isn't huge. I ordered the Classic Combo, choosing a half-and-half pizza (hot honey pepperoni & potato) and white ragu pasta. Ordering the combo makes the Classic ₩2,000 cheaper and the Extra ₩6,000 cheaper than ordering each item separately, so I'd definitely recommend going with a combo ✨

They don't pre-make the dough — they start kneading it the moment you order. They said they use Italian premium Caputo flour with the traditional Biga pre-ferment method, cold-fermenting it slowly for 48 hours.

Crayon coloring mats while you wait for the pizza

I noticed crayons at every table and wondered what they were for — turns out they're for coloring the paper mats laid over the table. Waiting for food isn't boring at all with this little magic trick 🪄 Small but thoughtful touches like this really show the owner's sense of style.

Every sheet has a different drawing! I got the Gwangan Bridge, and my partner got a pasta — neither of us has any artistic talent, lol.

How the hot honey pepperoni and potato half-and-half pizza tastes

As a pizza lover, I could tell just by looking that Extra Mile is a dough place — and sure enough... toppings aside, the dough itself was just delicious. With careful fermentation plus kneading right at order time, it was crispy outside and chewy inside. Great texture, full of nutty flavor — you could eat the crust alone and not get bored. So good 🤎

Hot Honey Pepperoni (pepperoni, mascarpone, ricotta cheese, pickled peppers) — true to its name, spicy-and-honey was a really appealing combo, sweet and spicy at once. The mascarpone and ricotta cheeses seemed to mellow out the heat from the pepperoni and pickled peppers.

Potato (Dubaek potato, truffle oil, bacon) — topped with two kinds of potato, sliced and shredded, so the potato flavor really came through and the texture was great too. That truffle scent hitting every so often was the real kicker ✨ I voted for the potato, my partner voted for the pepperoni — meaning both were delicious.

White ragu pasta packed with beef and pork

Since it's known as a pizza place, I honestly wasn't expecting much from the pasta, but... they're good at this too?

Loaded with both beef and pork, you really get that meaty aroma, and it paired well with the Reggiano cheese. The noodles are on the wide side, but the sauce and noodles didn't separate — the sauce soaked in nicely, which was satisfying.

Can you see how much meat there is 😎 It was great that we could dig in without holding back 🐷 Even my partner, who's not great with rich food, said this pasta was amazing.
