On the weekend my husband and I suddenly craved meat, and without a second thought we headed straight to Sammokjip Gwangmyeong Sageori Station Branch.
We'd eaten there once before and loved it, so it's become one of our go-to spots as a couple — this visit was just a natural repeat.

And once again, it was a satisfying meal.
Sammokjip Gwangmyeong Sageori Station Branch: location, hours and parking

Sammokjip Gwangmyeong Sageori Station Branch is located at 8 Oriro985beon-angil, Gwangmyeong-si, Gyeonggi-do, 1st floor. Monday through Friday it's open from 14:00 to 1am the next day, and on weekends from noon to 1am the next day!

There's no dedicated parking lot, but you can reserve a table in advance through Naver Reservations!
What is the restaurant like inside?
That day, they had one whole window open, giving it an outdoor-seating kind of feel. The breeze flowed through nicely and it felt open rather than stuffy — I liked that a lot.

Most of the customers were families, so it wasn't too loud. It was a comfortable atmosphere for a couple to chat while eating.

Maybe because it was the weekend, there were quite a few couples and families like us!
Sammokjip menu and prices: pork neck, skirt and jowl

At Sammokjip Gwangmyeong Sageori Station Branch, pork belly and pork neck are ₩16,900 per 180g serving, Samok whole scallion skirt meat is ₩18,900 for 180g, whole skirt meat is ₩17,900 for 150g, and whole pork jowl is ₩18,900 for 150g. The pork neck here is genuinely delicious!

They also have hearty sides like kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), steamed egg, and griddle kimchi fried rice, so you can order depending on how hungry you are, haha.

As usual, we ordered two servings of pork neck along with kimchi jjigae, steamed egg, and rice. Kimchi jjigae was ₩7,000, steamed egg ₩4,000, and rice ₩1,000 each!

Even with just this much, two people end up completely full, which is probably why we keep settling on this same combination.
On days we want to eat more meat, we order three servings of meat and just one side instead!
Honest review of the pork neck and kimchi jjigae
At Sammokjip Gwangmyeong Sageori Station Branch, the staff grill the meat for you, so we didn't have to worry about a thing — we just got to sit back and eat.

They handle everything from heat control to flipping timing, so we could focus more on our conversation, which was really nice.
The pork neck was grilled tender with a great chewy texture, and the kimchi jjigae was well-seasoned, perfect to eat alongside rice.
The steamed egg was fluffy and soft — a great order if you have kids with you! The seasoning wasn't too strong either, and it was delicious.

The best side dish: aged kimchi in perilla oil
The side dishes were pretty varied, which I liked, but the perilla oil aged kimchi stood out in particular. The tanginess of aged kimchi combined with the aroma of perilla oil kept pulling me back for more.

Shredded scallions from the self-serve bar
Just a heads-up — green onion shreds aren't included in the basic table setting.

If you want some, you can grab them yourself from the self-serve bar — being able to freely help yourself to extra sides like this at the self-serve bar was convenient.
Why this couple keeps going back to Sammokjip in Gwangmyeong

Since staff grill the meat for you, it's also a comfortable spot for a work dinner without any hassle, and every single side dish is really delicious!

And you never have to worry about who's going to grill the meat!
