I'd been wanting to try this Gwangalli pizza spot for ages~~ I really love wood-fired pizza, because you get vegetables and freshly baked dough (= bread), haha 👍 Extra Mile is within a 5-minute walk of the subway station and not too far from the beach either, so it's great for grabbing a slice after checking out the sea!
We drove that day and parked at Suyeong Underground Parking Lot — compared to the private lots around Gwangalli, it's cheaper and has plenty of space, so I recommend it!
Weekday 6pm at Extra Mile: every seat taken within minutes
We got there a little before 6pm on a weekday, and there was only one other table inside! But the moment we sat down the whole place filled up... By almost 7pm there was even a wait, so if you're coming with a group I'd recommend booking ahead! There were various table types — a bar table, two-tops, and four-tops~

The perfect pizza set arrived! One great thing about Extra Mile is there's no extra charge for ordering half-and-half! The smell was absolutely incredible... the visuals were wild too.
I personally prefer a chewy dough with a moderate amount of toppings rather than a pile of everything, and this Gwangalli pizza spot clearly knows exactly that balance..🥹

How does the hot honey pepperoni pizza taste?
My favorite flavor, hot honey pepperoni, cuts the greasiness of the pepperoni with jalapeño, and then tames the jalapeño's heat with mascarpone cheese — an unbelievable combination!
Seriously, big recommend 👍 Soft mascarpone cheese over a chewy, crisp crust, with pepperoni and jalapeño giving it texture so it's never bland — a combination I've never tasted at any other pizza place, so I really enjoyed it! Especially since it never got tiresome! Usually a slice or two in, pizza gets old, but the combination of ingredients was so good I could eat it happily all the way through, haha.
Birria pizza at Extra Mile tastes like a taco
Topped with beef, sour cream, and cilantro salsa!-! It felt like eating Mexican food, honestly. The toppings were so similar to a taco that it felt familiar! Piled on the chewy dough, it was actually even better than a taco~~ And most of all, the cilantro and onion on top were so fresh!
I found myself clapping while eating a crust that was neither too thick nor soggy — absolutely perfect... Next time I'll try the hot honey pepperoni with potato, which I heard is also delicious!
Bisque cream pasta topped with grilled gim (seaweed)
Shrimp, Reggiano cheese, gim (roasted seaweed), parsley
That's what goes into this can't-go-wrong pasta. I fell in love with bisque pasta the first time I tried it, and now I order it every time it's on the menu wherever I go! What makes this place unique is that they top it with [grilled gim, roasted seaweed]!
Apparently it's even better if you don't mix the grilled gim straight in, but instead add a little with each bite~~ The gim's faint oceany savoriness paired so well with the bisque cream's shrimp umami and cheese flavor! The noodles were cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing 🥹
The shrimp especially was the highlight! Was it lobster shrimp, maybe...? It wasn't the shrimp texture I'm used to at all — incredibly soft! It melted so smoothly I was genuinely surprised ㅠㅠ Which made it pair even better with the bisque sauce~~ Even the pasta was delicious at this Gwangalli pizza spot!

It had been a while since I found a great restaurant in Gwangalli, and I walked out in a great mood! If you're looking for pizza in Gwangalli, I recommend this as a date spot~~
