Deuran-gil naengmyeon restaurant in Daegu: Golmok Naengmyeon 1966
In short
Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu is a Korean restaurant on Deuran-ro in Suseong-gu, Daegu, serving cold buckwheat noodles alongside Daegu-style dak hanmari (chicken hot pot). Three of us ordered the Daegu-style dak hanmari 2-person set with one mul naengmyeon (cold broth noodles) and one bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed noodles), and the portions were so generous that we left some food behind — next time, the set plus a single naengmyeon would be plenty. With a baby chair, a self-serve bar and its own parking lot, Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 is an easy choice for a family meal out.

On weekends I usually end up looking for somewhere to take the family out to eat, and this time we headed to Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu on Deuran-gil in Suseong, Daegu. I was curious because they have a Daegu-style take on dak hanmari (whole chicken hot pot), a dish I've had in Seoul before, and it's also known as a naengmyeon (cold noodle) spot, so my expectations were even higher. Hot chicken hot pot and cool noodles in one meal felt like a solid combo for a weekend family outing.

Where is Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu, and what are its hours?
Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu is on the 2nd floor at 79-1 Deuran-ro, Suseong-gu, Daegu, South Korea. Hours are Monday–Friday 11:00–21:00 (break 15:00–17:00, last order 20:40), and Saturday–Sunday 11:00–20:00 (last order 19:40).
Being right on Deuran-gil made it easy to find for a family dinner or lunch. There's a parking lot on site, and the restaurant also had a baby chair ready inside.

I actually saw quite a few guests dining with babies, so it seemed like a fine place to eat out with kids too.

What three people ordered at Golmok Naengmyeon 1966, and how big the portions were

There were three of us, so we ordered the Daegu-style dak hanmari 2-person set, one mul naengmyeon, and one bibim naengmyeon. The dak hanmari 2-person set comes with the chicken hot pot plus kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and two dumplings as the sari (add-in). At first I thought it would be just about right for three people, but once the food arrived, the portions were honestly huge. With two bowls of naengmyeon added on top, the three of us ended up stuffed and left a little behind. So next time, I think ordering just one naengmyeon alongside the 2-person dak hanmari set would be plenty.

Based on how much we ate, the dak hanmari 2-person set personally felt like it was closer to 2.5–3 servings.
How does Daegu-style dak hanmari (chicken hot pot) taste?

The dak hanmari came loaded with plenty of chicken and vegetables.

The ingredients were generous right from the start, which made it nice to sit around the table as a family and simmer it together. The broth had a deep flavor too, and it only got better the longer we let it cook. The base broth was already tasty, but if you want it spicier there's dadaegi (chili paste) and minced cheongyang chili on hand to add. I added a bit of the minced cheongyang chili, and the extra kick suited my taste well.

The mildly spicy kimchi served alongside also paired nicely with the dak hanmari.

Kalguksu noodles, dumpling add-ons and free warm broth refills

Once we'd eaten our way through some of the dak hanmari, we added in the kalguksu noodles and dumplings that came with it. Before adding those in, the staff actually brought over extra warm broth first. Because the broth was already hot, it didn't take long to bring the noodles and dumplings back to a simmer. It's a small detail, but as a diner it felt genuinely convenient and thoughtful.

Mul naengmyeon vs. bibim naengmyeon at Golmok Naengmyeon 1966
Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 is also well known for its naengmyeon, so this time we ordered one mul naengmyeon and one bibim naengmyeon to try. Starting with the bibim naengmyeon, it had a generous amount of finely ground chili flakes. It wasn't just spicy for the sake of it — the seasoning had a deep flavor that I liked. The portion was pretty substantial too, enough that even paired with the dak hanmari, one bowl felt satisfying on its own.
The mul naengmyeon was also to my taste. Rather than a plain clear broth, it had seasoning mixed in, so it wasn't bland and had a savory depth. Eating the hot dak hanmari and then the cool mul naengmyeon in between worked really well together.

There's also a self-serve bar where you can grab extra side dishes and naengmyeon broth, so it was easy to help yourself to as much as you needed.
Why Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 works for a family meal in Suseong-gu
After this meal, what stuck with me about Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu is that you could come just for the naengmyeon, but getting to have Daegu-style dak hanmari alongside it makes it that much better. The dak hanmari was loaded with vegetables and chicken, good for sharing among a group, and both the mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon came in generous portions, so it was nice to order a variety and split it all. On top of that, having a baby chair and a self-serve bar made it an easy place for a family to eat together.
Final verdict on Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu
Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu was a satisfying spot for getting to enjoy both naengmyeon and Daegu-style dak hanmari in one meal.

The staff were kind, and little touches like stick gargle in the restroom and dessert candy at the counter left an even better impression. There were three of us, and we ordered the Daegu-style dak hanmari 2-person set plus mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon, but the portions were bigger than expected, so the three of us ate and still had some left over. Next time, I think just one naengmyeon alongside the 2-person dak hanmari set would be enough.
If you're craving both hot dak hanmari and cool naengmyeon on the same day, this is a good spot since you can enjoy both dishes at once. If you're looking for a naengmyeon restaurant on Deuran-gil in Daegu, or a Suseong-gu spot to eat generously with family, Golmok Naengmyeon 1966 Daegu is worth a visit :)
