I heard Hyeonseonine tteokbokki, which I loved back in college, also has a branch in Yeouido, so I went to check it out!

Yeouido has tons of great restaurants for office workers, but sometimes a simple Korean snack feels better than something fancy, right? For those moments, I highly recommend Hyeonseonine~! Let's get into the review.

I know Hyeonseonine's main branch is in Yongsan, but it turns out they have quite a few branches around haha. The Hyeonseonine at IFC Mall apparently just finished a renovation!! Haha

The Yeouido Hyeonseonine tteokbokki is on basement level 2 of IFC Mall! It's in the passage from the basement of The Hyundai to Yeouido Station. Great spot to stop by after shopping, and super easy to spot since it stands out haha.

Indoors had maybe 10 tables or so, but there are tables outside too! There are several tables out there so it feels quite spacious! It was a bit awkward to fit our baby stroller inside, so we ate outside~

At the restaurant, you order through a kiosk, and Zero Pay works too! There's even a phone charger set up — nice touch from the owner haha.

We ordered the Hyeonseonine Set for ₩23,000 so we could try a variety of menu items! There's a choice between instant-style tteokbokki and regular tteokbokki, and after some thought we picked regular tteokbokki. It's a set of tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae (blood sausage), and gimbap (seaweed rice roll)><

You can grab pickled radish, soy sauce, wet wipes, water, and so on from the self-bar! I love that you can eat as much pickled radish as you want haha.

Yay! Our order arrived. It came out right after we ordered, haha. No long wait, which is so nice!

First thing that caught my eye was the tteokbokki! This place does a spicy-sweet broth-style tteokbokki. It's not the heavy taste of gochujang (chili paste) — instead it's seasoned with chili powder for a clean flavor that really stands out! The seasoning soaked well into the rice cakes, which was great~

The fried snack lineup: gimmari, vegetable, squid, sweet potato

And you can't come to a Korean snack restaurant without fried snacks. We got gimmari (fried seaweed roll), vegetable fritter, squid fritter, and sweet potato fritter~ A whole pile of delicious fried food! The fried snacks were crispy and clean-tasting. That fresh-ingredients, fresh-oil kind of taste. Not too salty either, which was just right haha.

The fried snacks are tasty on their own, but dipping them in the tteokbokki sauce is just perfect! Especially something like gimmari that soaks up the sauce well — totally recommend it><. Aside from the gimmari, every single fried snack was so good!

Four rolls of small gimbap, and the baby wanted some too

And then, small gimbap! It comes with 4 rolls, a just-right amount! Filled with egg, ham, pickled radish, and spinach, and seasoned not too salty, just right~ It has that feel of the mini gimbap you get at subway station stalls. The nutty sesame oil aroma made it even better! Haha, our baby smelled it and started demanding some too haha.

Glass noodle sundae and eomuk broth, overall verdict

I didn't get a photo, but the sundae was made with glass noodles and was really tasty too! Dipping the fried snacks in soy sauce was also great. The eomuk (fish cake) broth that came with it was amazing too! Overall, this is the kind of nostalgic Korean snack restaurant where the food keeps popping into your head. It was so, so good, the kind of taste that stays with you haha.

I heard the instant-style tteokbokki here is delicious too, so next time I want to try that! If you're ever in Yeouido craving tteokbokki or Korean snacks, I highly recommend this place!
