Mokdong Chinese restaurant with dried pollack jjampong: Yugwanjang
In short
Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Mokdong-dong-ro in Yangcheon, Seoul, near Omokgyo Station, where you can order Yongdae-ri hwangtae jjampong (dried pollack noodle soup) instead of the usual fiery jjampong. The order was Yongdae-ri hwangtae jjampong with gochu japchae bap (stir-fried peppers and pork over rice) and mini tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), alternating between the clear broth, the savoury rice dish and the crisp fried pork. On a day when spicy jjampong feels like too much, Yugwanjang Banjeom is an easy pick near Omokgyo Station.

Today I wanted Chinese food near Omokgyo Station, so I stopped by Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch~!
What I ordered today: Yongdae-ri hwangtae jjampong (pollack seafood noodle soup) + gochu japchae bap (stir-fried noodle and vegetable rice) + mini tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)!!
Usually when I go to a Chinese restaurant, I think of spicy, punchy jjampong first. But that day I weirdly wanted something clean and refreshing instead. So I tried the Yongdae-ri hwangtae jjampong! Spoiler: great choice today, haha.

Where is Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch?
Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch is located at 256 Mokdong-dong-ro, 2nd floor, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. It's a good spot to visit around Omokgyo Station when you're craving Chinese food or jjampong.
When you think Chinese restaurant, jjajangmyeon, jjampong, and tangsuyuk come to mind first, but looking through Yugwanjang's menu, there were some more unusual options worth trying. The one that caught my eye today was the Yongdae-ri hwangtae jjampong!

Yongdae-ri dried pollack jjampong instead of the spicy kind
Yugwanjang's Yongdae-ri hwangtae jjampong has dried pollack in it, giving the broth a refreshing quality I really liked. That day I was especially craving a clean, refreshing broth over a hot, punchy one — and this hit the spot~!
It still has that signature jjampong warmth, but it doesn't just go straight-up spicy and intense — it's the kind of refreshing broth that makes you keep spooning it up!
If you usually like jjampong but find overly intense broths a bit much, this one's worth trying. It has a different charm from typical jjampong, and I was satisfied.
Especially if you had a drink the night before, this is the kind of broth you'd crave the next day, haha. Personally, this was the most memorable dish I ordered today~!

Gochu japchae bap: the savoury rice dish that disappears fast
The second dish was Yugwanjang's gochu japchae bap! It felt like a waste to only order jjampong, so I picked a rice dish too, and the gochu japchae bap was another good call.
The seasoning was spot on. Eating the stir-fried noodles and vegetables together with rice felt like an absolute rice thief!! It wasn't overly intense, but the seasoning kept pulling me in for bite after bite, and it disappeared fast, haha.
A spoonful of jjampong broth, then a bite of gochu japchae bap — the combo was GOOD!! If you prefer rice over noodles, give the gochu japchae bap a try too~!

Mini tangsuyuk that was more generous than expected
Yugwanjang's mini tangsuyuk was, despite its name, enough to share alongside two main dishes. Coming to a Chinese restaurant without tangsuyuk would be a shame, haha. Since I already ordered two mains, I went with the mini size to keep it light.
But when it arrived, the portion was better than I expected!! I thought 'mini' meant a tiny amount, but it was plenty to pair with the two mains.
Above all, the tangsuyuk was delicious — crispy outside, tender inside. Tangsuyuk can disappoint if the batter is too thick or goes soggy after a bit, but here the crisp texture and tender meat worked so well together that I kept reaching for more.
Jjampong + gochu japchae bap + tangsuyuk! Chinese food really is best enjoyed by ordering a few dishes and sharing~! Haha.

How the three dishes work for two people
I ordered three dishes at Yugwanjang, and having each with a different style made the meal even more satisfying. If you're visiting with someone and want to try a bit of variety, I'd personally recommend this combo.
- Yongdae-ri hwangtae jjampong: refreshing broth!
- Gochu japchae bap: just the right seasoning that keeps the rice coming!
- Mini tangsuyuk: crispy yet tender texture!
No single dish overpowered the others, so it was easy to alternate between them. And since tangsuyuk came in a mini size, adding it to two mains didn't feel like too much~!

Craving jjampong near Omokgyo Station?
Today's visit to Yugwanjang Banjeom Omokgyo Station Branch will stick with me mostly because of the Yongdae-ri hwangtae jjampong. Like me, there are times you don't want a spicy, punchy jjampong but a clean, refreshing broth instead. This is a dish worth ordering for those moments.
On top of that, the gochu japchae bap had just the right seasoning, and the mini tangsuyuk was crispy and tender!! I left having enjoyed all three dishes.
If you're looking for a good Chinese restaurant near Omokgyo, or want to try something a bit different from your usual jjampong, give Yugwanjang's Yongdae-ri hwangtae jjampong a try! Next time I'm craving a refreshing broth over an intense one, I'll probably order this again, haha.
