Eulwangri octopus restaurant with turmeric rice, Incheon: Haesanggung
In short
Haesanggung is a restaurant in Eulwangri, Yeongjong, Incheon, near Seonnyeobawi Rock and Inspire Resort, specialising in octopus stir-fry, whole-octopus pancake and seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup). Arriving early in the morning, the writer ordered the signature Haesanggung set for two at 57,000 won and mixed the turmeric rice with the octopus stir-fry and bean sprouts, and the outdoor tables meant dogs were welcome too. The portions were so large it was hard to believe two people could finish them, and the coffee at the end rounded the meal off well.

What Haesanggung looks like from outside

Haesanggung, a Yeongjong go-to for octopus stir-fry and octopus pancake, is located near Seonnyeobawi and Inspire Resort. It even won the grand prize at an Incheon Jung-gu food competition.

There's a spacious dedicated parking lot both in front of and beside the restaurant, so there's no need to worry about parking.
Inside Haesanggung and the dog-friendly outdoor tables

The dining hall is very spacious — and even at this early hour, there were already people eating, which tells you it's a real local favorite.

There are outdoor tables too, so on nice days it'd be great to eat outside. Since dogs are welcome here, having an outdoor area feels like even more of a plus.
There's a dedicated restroom, kept impressively clean.
Octopus stir-fry sauce tends to splatter on your clothes, right? Disposable aprons were provided, so I could eat comfortably.

Haesanggung menu: single dishes and sets
Here's the Haesanggung menu. Octopus stir-fry, octopus pancake, and kalguksu can all be ordered à la carte or as a set.

You can check the ingredient origins in the photo, and they give you noodles or a drink if you leave a receipt review — definitely worth doing!
What comes in the 57,000-won Haesanggung set for two
The Haesanggung set for two (₩57,000) comes with octopus stir-fry, seafood kalguksu, whole octopus pancake, and turmeric rice.

I ordered Haesanggung's signature dish, the Haesanggung set. While waiting for the food, I read up on the health benefits of octopus — you know every good restaurant has one of these posters on the wall, right?

Apparently Haesanggung's octopus stir-fry uses no artificial capsaicin at all — just gochugaru (chili flakes), garlic, and about ten other healthy ingredients in their own recipe, giving it a delicious kind of spicy. It can be quite spicy, so it's best to take small portions at a time.

As soon as you order, bean sprouts, cabbage salad, and genuinely delicious napa cabbage kimchi arrive.

For any extra side dishes you want, there's a self-serve bar.
Just look at the color of that kimchi! It goes really well with the kalguksu.

Then the Haesanggung set arrived. For two people it comes with octopus stir-fry, whole octopus pancake, seafood kalguksu, and turmeric rice. The portion was so massive I genuinely doubted the two of us could finish it all.

Whole-octopus pancake at Haesanggung
First up, the whole octopus pancake. A crispy pancake topped with an entire octopus, with shrimp tucked between the octopus legs — the texture and flavor were both fantastic.

How the octopus stir-fry tasted
Can you see the color of that octopus stir-fry? Plump octopus with a deliciously spicy sauce — need I say more? It's a real rice thief. Cut into bite-sized pieces and eaten with the spicy sauce, it's bound to be delicious.

Mixing the octopus stir-fry into turmeric rice
At Haesanggung, the rice comes as turmeric rice.

The nice aroma and flavor of the turmeric rice pairs really well with the octopus stir-fry. Scoop some octopus stir-fry onto the turmeric rice, mix it with the bean sprouts, and it's ridiculously good.

Seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup)
The seafood kalguksu is packed with seafood, so the broth was really rich. Paired with the house-made napa cabbage kimchi, it would be the best combination.
