Haesanggung is a seafood kalguksu, octopus stir-fry and whole octopus pancake specialist in Eulwangri, Yeongjong, Incheon. It's appeared on TV multiple times, and won the grand prize for octopus stir-fry and octopus pancake at Incheon Jung-gu's 'Local Specialty Food Competition' — a well-known restaurant on Yeongjong Island (Incheon Jung-gu restaurant competition).

Friends and acquaintances I've brought here all said it was delicious and have become regulars themselves, coming back again and again

A genuine local favorite that Yeongjong residents vouch for

Usually the parking lot is packed and bustling, but being a Sunday evening it was a bit quieter than usual

Kids' play area, dog-friendly, and terrace seating

Haesanggung has a play area for kids, so a lot of families come here. Being a dog-friendly restaurant, I also saw many people who'd come out for a drive on Yeongjong Island with their dogs and stopped in to eat.

Ahh♡ I love stuff like this — there's a little garden🥬🍅 tucked in one corner of the restaurant. Just looking at it feels healthy

If you want to eat while watching your kid play, terrace seating is best 👍👍 And if you're a bit self-conscious having your dog with you, terrace seating is the answer too💓

The weather's nice these days so the terrace tables have such a nice atmosphere haha

Haesanggung's sauce flavor and adjustable spice level

Haesanggung's signature is its spicy sauce, but the biggest feature is that it's not made with artificial capsaicin — it uses healthy ingredients like chili powder and garlic, so you get a delicious kind of spicy!

With no artificial additives, you get to properly taste the clean, spicy sauce

If it's too spicy, just eat plenty of the bean sprouts and cabbage salad — and since the spice level is adjustable anyway, no need to worry too much haha

Whole octopus pancake

A whole giant octopus, laid out entirely!! It's amazing how they shape the octopus so beautifully, and there's shrimp🦐 carefully tucked into the octopus legs too — such attention to detail haha

Octopus stir-fry

The portion is huge, so you might end up with leftovers, but thankfully~ ✔️ leftovers can be packed to go

The healthy turmeric rice looks different in color from regular rice right off the bat👍

How to eat the octopus stir-fry

Put bean sprouts on your rice, then add the octopus stir-fry little by little according to how spicy you like it🔥🔥🔥

Seafood kalguksu

When the spiciness starts building up, take a sip of the seafood kalguksu broth — 👏👏 loaded with seafood! Thanks to the garlic, green onion and secret broth, it's pure deliciousness. There were also tons of clams and mussels at the bottom, but I'm sad I didn't get a photo of it haha

Eat the chewy kalguksu noodles together with kimchi 😊

A good last meal after a day trip to Inspire

I'll neatly pack up the leftovers to eat at home 💙 It's delicious even cold, and even better if it's not — a restaurant near Inspire that's easy to stop by since it's so close. Let's go for a Yeongjong Island drive this Chuseok😍
