Incheon octopus and kalguksu restaurant, 3-person B set: Haesanggung

In short

Haesanggung is a stir-fried octopus and seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on Masiran-ro in Eulwangri, Yeongjong, Incheon. The Haesanggung Han-sang 3-person B set arrives as one full spread — two servings of stir-fried octopus, one seafood kalguksu, one octopus pancake and turmeric rice — and it was eaten out on the open-air terrace; because Haesanggung uses no artificial capsaicin, even a spice-shy husband mixed the octopus into his rice and cleaned the plate. For a filling sit-down meal on a Yeongjong drive, Haesanggung is a solid stop.

On nice-weather days you just want to go for a drive somewhere far, get some fresh air, and eat something good, right? As the weather turned cooler, I went on a drive around Incheon's Yeongjong Island and had a hearty meal there, so I wanted to introduce the place.

It's Haesanggung, a restaurant I found while looking for good food on Yeongjong Island — with octopus stir-fry, seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), and octopus pancake, you can enjoy a generous spread of seafood dishes, making it a great stop on a drive course.

Where is Haesanggung, and is there parking on the Yeongjong drive route?

Haesanggung is on Masiran-ro in Eulwangri, Yeongjong, Incheon, so it was a convenient spot to eat while driving around the Yeongjong area. There's also parking available, which made it easy to visit by car.

The indoor space is spacious too, with wide gaps between tables so you don't feel crowded by other tables — I liked that sense of a somewhat separated space.

What the outdoor terrace at Haesanggung is like

But what I liked most of all was that there's an outdoor terrace! On a nice day, rather than eating only indoors, it's nice to dine leisurely while feeling the outside air. Eating in that open-air atmosphere let me feel like I was really on a Yeongjong drive even while having a meal.

What comes with the Haesanggung Han-sang 3-person B set?

That day we ordered the Haesanggung Han-sang 3-person B set. It came with octopus stir-fry (2 servings) + seafood kalguksu (1 serving) + octopus pancake (1) + turmeric rice. I liked that we didn't have to order several menus separately — a full spread arrives so you can taste a variety of dishes at once. Especially being able to eat octopus stir-fry, seafood kalguksu, and octopus pancake together made for a satisfying combination.

The octopus pancake with a whole octopus on top

The octopus pancake, of course! A whole octopus sits on top of the pancake, so you get more of that chewy seafood texture than a regular pancake. The outside was fried crispy, making it great to pair with the octopus stir-fry or seafood kalguksu.

How Haesanggung's stir-fried octopus tastes and how spicy it is

The main dish, octopus stir-fry! The octopus pieces were large with a plump, springy texture still alive when you bite in — really chewy and good. The sauce was spicy but full of savory depth, perfect to eat with rice.

The sauce looked so red I was a little scared it'd be too spicy, but since no artificial capsaicin is used, it was a deliciously spicy flavor!

Mixing the octopus into turmeric rice: a spice-shy husband's verdict

Even my spice-shy husband mixed it into his rice and ate it happily, finding it just spicy enough — haha. Putting the octopus stir-fry over the turmeric rice that came with it, the spicy sauce and rice went really well together. It's the kind of menu that comes to mind when you want a hearty meal, so personally, as someone looking for good food on Yeongjong Island, I'd recommend it to anyone who loves octopus!

Dipping the octopus pancake lightly into the octopus stir-fry sauce doubled the appeal of both the spicy sauce and the savory pancake, haha.

Finishing the meal with Haesanggung's seafood kalguksu

After eating the spicy octopus stir-fry, taking a spoonful of the seafood kalguksu broth brings out a whole different flavor. The seafood-based broth was clean and refreshing, and paired with the chewy noodles it felt really filling. Eating the spicy dish alongside a refreshing soup made for a proper full octopus spread.

Verdict: when is Haesanggung worth the drive?

It's not just a place to grab a quick meal — it's a good spot to properly recharge while driving around Yeongjong. Waking up your appetite with the spicy octopus stir-fry, finishing refreshingly with the seafood kalguksu, and adding the octopus pancake on top made it feel like a truly complete spread!

Especially on a nice-weather day, sitting on the outdoor terrace and eating leisurely really lets you feel like you're on a proper drive. If you're looking for somewhere to drive to on Yeongjong Island, or craving a hearty menu like octopus stir-fry or seafood kalguksu, it's worth stopping by. I'd recommend this as a course for getting some fresh air on Yeongjong on a nice day and recharging with delicious food too~!💛💛
