Gangneung sea-view sashimi restaurant, ₩7,000 stew add-on: Samsami-ne
In short
Samsami-ne Gyeongpodae Main Branch is a sashimi restaurant right in front of Gyeongpodae Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon. The writer took a window table with a friend and ordered the value assorted sashimi + mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) set for two at 70,000 won, then added spicy fish stew for 7,000 won; the mulhoe was lightly seasoned enough to enjoy to the last bite, and radish kept the stew broth clean and refreshing. Samsami-ne Gyeongpodae Main Branch, Gangneung

On a trip to Gangneung, I visited a sashimi restaurant with a great atmosphere and even better taste! It's Samsami-ne Gyeongpodae Main Branch, right in front of Gyeongpodae Beach. I ended up here while searching for a good sashimi restaurant near Gyeongpodae.

Parking and sea-view window seats at Samsami-ne
Parking right in front of Samsami-ne Gyeongpodae Main Branch was convenient. I parked, turned around, and the sea was right there in front of me 🌊
Just the thought of eating sashimi while looking at the sea got me so excited I practically hopped into the restaurant 🐰
The interior was clean and bright overall. The tables were spaced generously, so it looked like a great spot for families or groups~!
What I liked especially was the window seat! Through the window, the sea peeked through the pine trees, and it really felt like I was on a trip to Gangneung.
Eating sashimi while looking at the sea.. isn't this the whole point of a Gangneung trip~?
On one side of the restaurant, there were photos from TV appearances and photos of past customers lined up.

Each table had cups, chogochujang (vinegar chili sauce), soy sauce and other basic condiments ready, and there was a kiosk for ordering right at the table.

What we ordered: assorted sashimi + mulhoe set for two, 70,000 won
I looked over the menu. Samsami-ne also sells red sea bream yubiki as a signature dish.

I was curious about that too, but what my friend and I ordered that day was the 🩵value assorted sashimi + mulhoe set for two, ₩70,000! It's a combo where you can try both assorted sashimi and mulhoe at once, so it's great to share between two people and enjoy variety.
After ordering, a clean basic spread came out first, then the mulhoe came right after 〰️🩵

Is Samsami-ne's mulhoe too salty? Lightly seasoned to the last bite
I really love mulhoe, but I have some pretty picky standards for it 🤔 It shouldn't be too strongly seasoned, and I shouldn't get tired of it by the end — those are my conditions for a good mulhoe.

Samsami-ne's mulhoe has plenty of vegetables, thin noodles mixed in, and sashimi placed right on top, so you can enjoy it all in one bowl.
I mixed it evenly and dug in right away. Hmm.. first, the balance passes!✨ The seasoning was tangy and refreshing without being too strong, and the sashimi had a proper chewy texture the more I chewed.
The crunchy vegetables, chewy sashimi, and thin noodles all went well together texture-wise. Above all, I didn't get tired of the sauce's flavor the whole time, so I ate it up really fast. It matched my picky mulhoe criteria perfectly 👌🏻

Officially a mulhoe destination! If you love mulhoe and are looking for a good sashimi restaurant recommendation in Gangneung, try this mulhoe too!!

The steamed egg that came with it was also soft and tasty, so I finished it all without leaving any 😋💛

Three ways to eat the assorted sashimi platter
And then the value assorted sashimi I'd been waiting for arrived. It comes with three components: sashimi + seasoned vegetables + sushi rice 🙌🏻
Isn't the thickness of the sashimi just right?
Not too thin, not too thick — it was the perfect thickness to really feel the characteristic chewy texture of sashimi. The owner told us it tastes even better when you eat the sashimi with the seasoned vegetables and sushi rice together.

I first tried wrapping sashimi and seasoned vegetables together in a perilla leaf and eating it. Oh my...🥹 the sashimi was so chewy and fresh. Adding the tangy seasoned vegetables on top made it feel like it was dancing in my mouth!💃🏻 It was a completely different flavor from eating sashimi plain, and I kept reaching for more.
Next, I tried topping the sashimi with a little wasabi and eating it with sushi rice dipped in soy sauce.🍣 This combo was really delicious too 😋
It tasted way better than most sushi restaurants — probably because it's freshly sliced sashimi placed right on top. It was delicious eaten plain, wrapped in perilla leaf with seasoned vegetables, or made into sushi-style bites, so one plate could be enjoyed in many different ways. It was so good I nearly fainted 🫠

And eating delicious sashimi while seeing Gyeongpodae's sea through the window really made me feel like I was on a trip 🌊 I guess that's an atmosphere you can only get at a sashimi restaurant right in front of the sea.

Spicy fish stew for 7,000 won more: radish keeps the broth clean
And you can't skip this at a sashimi restaurant. The crown jewel of any sashimi restaurant is the spicy fish stew! I ordered that as an add-on too. It costs ₩7,000.
It comes out almost fully cooked, so once it starts boiling at the table, you can eat it right away. I like it when a lot of radish goes into the stew. As the radish cooks through, the broth gets even more refreshing.
Sure enough, the broth was really refreshing, with no fishy smell or off-flavors at all, so my spoon kept going back for more. In the end, I even finished a whole bowl of rice with it...🐷🐽
I was clearly already full from the assorted sashimi and mulhoe, but somehow there was still room for the stew.
And so my friend and I ✔️finished off all three — assorted sashimi, mulhoe, and spicy fish stew — completely.
A walk along Gyeongpodae Beach after dinner
Feeling like I might roll away if I stayed still, I went straight out after finishing and walked hard along Gyeongpodae Beach right in front. I got some cool sea breeze, doodled in the sand, and worked on digesting by walking slowly.
Coming out full and walking by the sea, I really felt, ah, I'm truly on a Gangneung trip 🥹 We got to eat our fill of sashimi, mulhoe, and spicy fish stew, and being able to walk right along Gyeongpodae afterward made it an even more memorable place.
If you're looking for a Gangneung sashimi restaurant recommendation where you can enjoy delicious sashimi close to the sea during your Gangneung trip, Samsami-ne Gyeongpodae Main Branch is worth a visit 🌊 It's a place that has romance, atmosphere, and flavor all covered, so you won't regret it 〰️〰️🫧🌀✨
